As you know, Centralia sits over a massive mine fire and has been condemned by the state. Most residents moved out years ago, but a stubborn few remained there and were allowed to live there until their eventual deaths.

Per the 2010 Census, there were 10 residents; all were White, and none were below the age of 18. In fact, the majority of those residents were over the age of 50, with one additional person between the age 25-29.

Then, we get to the 2020 Census, where there are now only five residents. However, now one of those residents are Asian, and there is now someone living there below the age of 18.

So, that means that someone not only got married, but convinced their spouse to move with them into a literally burning town and start a family there. What the hell kind of logic is that?

Do spouses and children get to own the property and keep living there?

Would be kinda cool to be the last ones left in the abandoned hell town no one else can ever move to.

Not sure. The idea was that once the last remaining residents died off, the state would take control of everything through eminent domain and presumably demolish the entire town.

So assuming that that didn't just apply for the residents at the time the deal was made, someone may have found a loophole. Not sure why they're so hellbent on staying in a dead town that is literally on fire, though.

I imagine you could make a rather entertaining YouTube channel about it if nothing else, people eat that stuff up.
