I was always extremely nice to waiters/waitresses when I used to go out because I know I would never be able to deal with the general public without getting fired.

Probably I'd have an easier time of it. Regardless of my official titles, there's also an invisible additional line appended to the end: "also he handles the difficult and scary customers"

At this point, if deescalation was my actual, official job, I'd be very comfortable. As long as they paid me enough.

TBH, Being a Busser can be smarter.
You aren't as front line, you are kind of your own independent contractor, and you still get tip money.
But yes, if you are going to work in a restaurant, and are reasonably good with people, you want to be front of the house.

Considering every place is hiring these days since post covid nobody wants to work shit jobs I wonder if you could just work as a waiter and mouth off to the customers, work at a different place every couple weeks but have no stress.

More so because a lot of kitchen staff just doesn't want to deal with the general public.
I'm not saying they don't have a personality....it just seems most don't want to deal with customers, which I respect.
