I usually go with a venti cold brew. Nothing fancy.

When I had full control over the drink I would cut it with ice coffee instead of water, but I don't expect that to be possible as a customer.

I never liked steaming the almond milk. It felt like trying to steam water because it's so thin. That said, it does have a specific taste people prefer so that's relatable. I just wasn't a fan of the viscosity of it I guess.

Nice, I remember someone I worked with telling me that the chai was actually the strongest in terms of caffeine that we offered - but I'm not sure if they really knew what they were talking about. Maybe they did.

Where I worked, you wouldn't need to specify no milk. Though it's good to be safe if you've been burned a few times.

They're actually supposed to throw out old coffee on a timer every 12-15 minutes (after it's finished), from what I remember. So a lot of coffee gets thrown out to prevent burn. But in practice, nobody does it.

Yeah it surprised me to learn how much those machines actually cost. That's interesting though, I'll look up more on that model/brand because I'm curious.

At the Starbucks I worked at, the machines were in the ballpark of $30k, we had two.

Over the past 5ish years I've been trying to invest in a coffee shop that one of my friends is trying to open up. We got a connect for a used Slayer for $20k recently, it's not going anywhere but neither are our plans cuz the pandemic fucked us lol

Yeah, again I would recommend either 1.) going elsewhere or 2.) asking what was put on last and hoping for the best.

They're supposed to dump coffee after 12-15 minutes post-brew, but most don't.

Definitely do. I have fond memories of working in a coffee shop tbh. It was just a relaxed atmosphere, despite all the caffeine involved. Our location was not a corporate one either so that helped. Hope you two get started, even if it had to wait because of the pandemic!

Using good machines are important, but even more important are good beans. Also, the machines need to be carefully cleaned frequently.

Good coffee is always one of 2-3 things I miss the most when travelling abroad.

a former coworker asked me to buy one for her once, and I decided to buy my own sometime later on, and I liked it.

I don't drink it too often since it's so sweet, but it's probably the only thing I like to drink from Starbucks besides the cider (which can also be really sweet).

Yeah, generally they steam up milk with the white chocolate flavoring for the white hot chocolate. Whip cream is optional, most people get it.

White mocha is also an option if you just want that but with caffeine. I noticed it was popular with people from Texas for some reason...

Oh I'm not really sourcing anything or being too particular about the beans. I like a pretty wide range of flavors, so we always have some sort of enjoyable beans in the pantry. They could honestly be anything from store brand coffee to beans roasted by a local coffee shop we like.
