I know when the original trilogy launched he was intimidating and iconic. He still is but now with more material, despite being the chosen one he isnt that impressive

I know he does cool stuff in comics, games, some shows but in live action from the moment he became vader:
lost to obi wan

lost to obi wan again despite vader honing his darkside skills and obi wan retiring for 5-10 years

beat obi wan when obi wan was 70+ (at this point Im convinced if obi wan tried, he may have won)

beat luke in luke's first ever battle

then lost to luke in luke's second ever lightsaber battle despite luke having no lightsaber battles in between.

He did have a lot of wins against rebellion soldiers and beat up reva i guess.

Now that ahsoka is out and heavily referencing rebels. He also pretty much lost to ahsoka as well.

So his biggest win was against 70 year old obi wan or rookie luke. If you want to give him anakin accomplishments, then 80 year old dooku

I legit think if obi wan and yoda just regrouped and tried the following weekend, they could have beat palps and vader

From what I've seen of live-action Star Wars, I feel like the Force is presented as pretty weak. It's really always just a lightsaaber fight.

But then you get like the end of Fallen Order where Vader is a force of nature who's moving the entire room around and holding back an entire ocean from flooding into an underwater room.

Darth Vader wasnt the chosen one the entire universe revolved around in the original trilogy. He was part of a larger story.

The prequel trilogy is to blame for exaggerating his importance.

This happens a lot in star wars, everyone is way more capable in everything but live action. The story wants to tell me that vader is this powerful being in a galaxy filled with powerful beings but the live action stuff shows me hes probably physically as fast as biden

He was pretty badass in the end of Rogue One but then again he was fighting fodder.

That's because it's harder to recreate that creativity of animation with live action.

The Spider-verse movies are a good example of this. Miles will do unrealistic movements for a normal human body but which are a key feature of Spider-Man with the scene enhanced by amazing usage of colors and settings, whereas the live-action movies go for more realism and limitations of what they can physically do.

Avatar the Last Airbender is also a good example of this. Though those clearly weren't the only issues lol.

I guess CGI attempts to recreate it, however that gets its own criticisms and can also be done very poorly.

Yeah they really did him a disservice in a number of ways, Ahsoka should have been killed by Vader (it really would have completed his transformation) and he never should have met Obi-wan again until their meeting in A New Hope.

Thats the problem when you keep shoving more content in between what was once a time skip. They just cant help themselves from adding in winks and nods, or early bird cameos for future characters. Prequels have this issue too.

Dragonball Super is going to have an interesting time retooling the original end of DBZ to fit with everything its introduced.

Yeah, never read the comics, however on IG a post popped up of the panel where forces have him surrounded and are telling him to give up, and he goes "All I am surrounded by is fear and dead men"

Sent a slight shiver down my spine.

DBZ Abridged had the best dead men line ever though.

I see behind that angst and ridiculous hair style is a real fighter.
And all I see behind all that insufferable snark is a dead man!
Oh, Trunks, you couldnt fathom how many dead men are behind me.

Abridged Vegeta based af no doubt.

But then they also give him the scenes where he repeatedly tantrums with "I wanna be a super Saiyan! I wanna I wanna I wanna I wanna!"

They truly captured his essence.

You! Namek! Too strong! EXPLAIN NOW.

They really did get him right. Android saga Vegeta was an emotionally stunted manchild. So naturally he has fanboys who cant see beyond the one liners.

(Actually I wonder if Android saga Vegeta is popular among the alt-right for being a real man?)

Im what you call semi-perfect.
How can you be semi-perfect? Look, youre either perfect or youre not me, theres no in between.

Later

Because, as a soon-to-be-dead man once said youre either perfect, or youre not me.

Abridged Perfect Cell was the based of all based.

The manga had a time skip past the ending of DBZ without even referencing it.
