Does the Simpsons even pretend to all take place in like a year?

The Simpsons has many episodes where Bart and Lisa are older and beyond that they keep changing canon to explain why he never ages.

1 im pretty sure simpsons fans have complained about the lack of aging

2 very different shows simpsons has minimal continuity while pokemon is 1 on going story

It bothers me way more when a live-action show has immortal/unaging characters, but then goes on for so long that the actor playing that character visibly ages.

I'm not a big pokemon guy I admit but I have never heard anyone complain that Ash hasn't aged

It bothers me way more when a live-action show has immortal/unaging characters, but then goes on for so long that the actor playing that character visibly ages.

I remember a lot of people complaining about that with Carl on Walking Dead but my view was always its the apocalypse, no one knows how much time passed because no one is counting days anymore.

They should have aged Ash after XYZ anime make him an adult and marry Serena in Kalos.

The Simpsons is constantly made fun of how they treat aging. Homer gets a lot of flack for orginally being a Boomer but he is now a Millennial.

I can't recall anything where I've seen people complain about Bart not aging but I'm sure people have but that was never my point or argument. Point is I can't see how people can think one thing is weird and exclusive to one country while that weird thing also happens where they come from.

It's like saying Goku flying is weird and think it's a weird thing Japan does but then you know Superman exist.

Humans are also Pokemon in the world of Pokemon. They dont age, they evolve.

People definitely complain about Homer and Marges past changing every few years (I think now Homer was a 90s kid, which is funny because thats what Bart was during the good years). Thats an off-shoot of the age thing.

Of course, the age thing is nothing compared to the real valid complaint that both series have been trash for decades.

Yeah The Walking Dead was the first thing that came to mind when he said that. The long breaks, in between filming each season, were very noticable with how much Carl's actor was growing

I never really watched Walking Dead, was the complaint there that the actor was aging faster than his character? That doesn't bother me as much, unless they draw an excessive amount of attention to it, it's more when a fantasy/sci-fi show has some thousand year old immortal or vampire or whatever who starts visibly aging over time.

That's why The Annointed One got randomly killed off without warning in Buffy.

In retrospect someone probably should have pointed out that casting a young boy on the cusp of puberty to play an unaging child was pretty silly.

Heh... I guess in the very end, the main point is these type of Westerners will somehow see their western stuff as more realistic and grounded while somehow seeing Japan and their creation to be unbelievably out of this world and unrelatable when in reality they're not that different.

Ash is part of an ongoing story that takes itself relatively seriously. The Simpsons is cartoony satire meant to exist in a vacuum. Not comparable.

? I dont, actually. Pokmon is a story where every episode builds upon the last, and there appears to be some meaningful passage of time. So it feels weird that Ash is 10 when he first became a Pokmon trainer, yet is still 10 after going on 500 adventures in which hes matured, made friends, defeated masters, caught a bunch of Pokmon, raised them through various evolutions, and etc. Like damn, can the kid be at least 13 by now? lol

The Simpsons always takes place in the present. As of the last flashbacks Homer was a nineties kid and Bart was born around 2010.

Oof. Id rather they have The Simpsons just adhere to their original birthdates and make meta jokes about it than constantly age the characters down. Soon enough, Homer will be a zoomer and that just feels completely wrong.
