In the same sense that you can say a prison guard goes to prison.

This is the easiest option I would imagine. And I'm not sure what ad seg means...

But keep him separated from everyone... not solitary, but his own little area.

They'd probably give Trump his own private wing of the prison, and everyone else in there has to double up yet again to free up the space for him.

On the extremely unlikely chance he ever sets foot in a prison, yeah it would be something like that.

it doesn't have to be that way, but most likely it would (again even assuming he got jail time)

If the State had balls, they could just say NO! The federal government is required to provide former presidents with Secret Service protection, but the State has no obligation to allow federal agents unfettered access to their facilities. The prison could say Secret Service can set up shop at the Motel 6 down the rode, and see Trump during visiting hours like every other person who wants to check on a felon.

That would NEVER EVER EVER be the case, but they COULD do it.

A former POTUS can lose or decline USSS protection, just like any other US government benefit.

Carter let his go over a decade ago.

Obama added "shadowing" as feds, and former feds call it. Not the same as USSS protection though.
My statement is correct, though, DYOR, or fuck off.

Under the current law, a former president can decline USSS protection but there is no way for it to be stripped from them otherwise. The only way for Trump's Secret Service protection to be taken from him without him agreeing to it would be if Congress passes a law removing it. Otherwise, the USSS would be obligated to protect him even if he's in prison.

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/trumps-indictment-end-secret-service-
protection-hed-decline/story?id=98311723

By law, only the sitting president, vice president, president-elect and vice president-elect cannot decline protection. Everyone else on the list, including former presidents are able to decline protection, if they choose to do so. Nothing in the statue, as written, forces someone who receives Secret Service protection to lose that protection under any circumstance other than death or, in the case of a former first lady, remarriage.

Also, Jimmy Carter does still continue to receive protection from the Secret Service, who even recently reaffirmed that commitment.

https://nypost.com/2023/02/19/secret-service-tells-hospice-bound-jimmy-
carter-agency-will-be-forever-by-your-side/

President Jimmy Carter was sent tributes Saturday as it was revealed that he would enter home hospice care including from the Secret Service, which has protected him for nearly half a century.

Rest easy Mr. President. We will be forever by your side, wrote Anthony Gugliemi, the agencys spokesman, in a social media post on Saturday.

Nixon was the former president who refused USSS protection.
