I like it... but I don't think as much as Polteageist... The name doesn't really work as well but I like it's design...

yeah after that tumbleweed pokemon and decidueye, im surprised theyre going back to that well already

if they served different purposes, i'd get it, but trevanant and ghourgeist already have like, super similar stats (slow, physical attack/defense), and the tumbleweed one is similar but just faster.

sinistea/polteageist at least is special attack and special def, which is different.

hopefully the new one has some unique ability or something to give it a different use, otherwise it's just gonna go into the dumpster with trevanant and ghourgeist

It does get a unique ability... Which could be ok depending on how much it heals... It saying "small amount" isn't making me hopeful though...

Honestly, Gourgeist is one of my biggest disappointments when it comes to Pokemon.

They should have made it so that the smaller varieties traded in Defense for boosts to Sp. Atk, to the point where the smallest form could be a decently-fast Sp. Attacker to take advantage of the fact that until Scovillian, they were the only Grass-types that could learn Fire-type moves. Along with this, Gougeist as a whole should have gotten the Flash Fire ability.

yup. now it's just relegated to dumpster fire outclassed by myriad other better options. your size idea would've been a great niche/gimmick for it.

I was being hyperbolic. Yes, there are like five doubles battles in the game that you can't replay. Also there's a pair of new pokemon with a doubles gimmick who are paired together in the story, but not in any of the five doubles battles that would have showcased that gimmick.

Maybe the dlc will offer more chances to use doubles tactics outside of multiplayer.

I do like Ryme though. An old female rapper as the ghost gym leader is a fun choice.

IIRC they didnt even synergize

they could've easily been four ghost type singles but instead were just in doubles

if they played off each other like a typical double battle, it would be worth discussion. but for all intents and purposes, it was another standard gym

This. And they shoulda put the sushi pokemon and its partner in a doubles gym or made it a double titan fight. Actually use the gimmick. If a tactic ends up being too potent for the story, then lower the levels, but don't just let it go to waste.
