He can believe that, but they won't ever put him into a high position of power.

An open border is no border.

I hear this a lot, but it's not true if you put a little thought into it. All borders are open to some degree, they have to be for trade and other purposes, so they operate more like doors. Sure, you could try to say an open door is no door, but if you go with that logic, a closed door isn't a door either; so it's like trying to argue a border isn't a border.

Yeah, it would be easier if we knew what he meant by "open" borders. It could be,

a) Free-for-all with no border at all
b) Intentionally lax border control intended to look the other way while illegal voters flood in
c) Border control that allows entry on paper, but scales the difficulty by your country of origin

Republicans interchangeably accusing Democrats of pushing for (a) and (b).
Republicans also push hard for (c), and deny the fact it's made harder for non-whites

Okay intersex people do muddy that water.
Considering that intersex people are only 1.7% of the population meaning 98.3% of people are male or female, it's still generally safe to say that there are 2 sexes outside of extreme rarities. Unless you want to include the mega extreme rarities like XY chromosome females (0.000064% chance, 166 recorded instances).

When Ramaswamy refers to 'open borders' it is with exactly the same intention as Trump's speech about Mexico 'not sending their best'.

It isn't meant to be a discussion about the nature of borders or their function, it is to pander to those who hate and fear immigrants, and suggest that he is on their side.

Ramaswamy doesnt consider himself a culture warrior; he insists that he is merely speaking the truth. He presents his ideas as self-evident, eternal truths. I asked him if he believes that truths can change over time. For instance, what did he make of the fact that most white Americans used to view it as a truth that Black people were genetically inferiorthat they werent fully human?

I dont think thats true, he said.

It is true, I said. Thats partly what justified slavery.

But it was a justification; it wasnt a belief, he said. Look at emperorsSeptimius Severus in Rome. He was Black. He had dark skin. They viewed dark skin as the way we view dark eyes.

This is how a debate with Ramaswamy unfolds. Hell engage with your question, but, when needed, hell expand its parameters. If that fails, hell pivot to thoughts on the existence of a higher power. I dont think that human beings ever accepted that Black people were not created equal in the eyes of God, he said. (His favorite president, Thomas Jefferson, believed exactly that.)

But "there are only two genders" is demonstrably untrue. "If you ignore 150 million people, it's true" makes it not true.

The following numbers are made-up, but humor me. If there are 3 species of shark that make up 95% of the population, but 20 species of shark total, "There are only 3 species of sharks" is a factually incorrect statement, regardless of intent.

His intention is devious AND he's literally wrong.

I think a significant number of GOP voters would have an issue with his religion (Hindu, according to wikipedia). He probably shouldn't be mentioning anybody's god, if he's in a party full of Christian Nationalists. "Religious tolerance" isn't in their vocabulary (which is why Dems should talk those words up).

And more religious influence is probably the last thing we need in politics.

It's closer to 136M if there are truly 8.045B people on earth but that's besides the point

The following numbers are made-up, but humor me. If there are 3 species of shark that make up 95% of the population, but 20 species of shark total, "There are only 3 species of sharks" is a factually incorrect statement, regardless of intent.
The statement would rightfully teeter along the lines of incorrect since 5% is a lot bigger than 1.7% probability-wise... The 3 major species cannot discount the existence of the other 20 species still technically exist, true. HOWEVER, it wouldn't exactly be incorrect to say that the 3 main species are the only ones roaming the waters because eventually a conclusion has to be made. Under technicality, if the other 15 species went extinct and the last species had even one living individual remaining, it would be incorrect to say there are only 3 species of sharks, but it would also be correct at the same time.

For humans, there is only one human species. The 98.3% of people that are male or female do not discount the existence intersex people, but they do establish that there are standard rules to human biology. "There is male and female" is false only if you're being needlessly technical for the sake of it.

A better mock analogy would be if it was like "These vaccines won't fail. They have a 98.3% efficacy rate." and then someone responding with "No that means they can fail. There's still a 1.7% chance"

The creator can safely say that they work. Would the other person be technically, technically correct? Yes... Will that make the creator wrong? No lol, and everyone will still trust him because they can come to a conclusion. After enough tests, you can conclude that there's a teeny-tiny chance that something different might happen, but that doesn't mean you can't also safely conclude what's going to happen.

There are very few things in this world that we are truly be 100% sure about. That's why you generally only need to be 98-99% sure.

It's false because it's literally false.

There's zero wrong with saying, "Male and female are the dominant sexes witnessed in humans." I don't know why you (or Ramaswamy) can't say that, and instead default to... this.
