The same time bandai-namco properly invest in the tales of series and gives us modern ports for those old tales of games that really should not be taking too much effort or money like tales of phantasia (they had this old iphone port they could use as a basis since the official north american gba phantasia localization was ass. Take this iphone localization and slap it on the most recent/most advanced psp version of tales of phantasia. I believe that is the cross edition), tales of eternia/destiny 2, tales of the abyss, and actually localizing actual destiny 2, rebirth, and destiny PS2 director's cut.

Fuck yeah. Combat system of a tales of game and put that sucker in a sky pirate world. Piracy is totally hip and cool with the kids in japan, so everything checks out.

I only have one request though...

The game absolutely MUST have a martial artist talking gorilla who uses nunchucks. All of these years and the tales of series has never seen a chucks' user. Tales of rebirth's mao is the closest they got to that, but he used tonfas and was a mage overall. He is a gorilla because gorillas are cool and talking ones are especially cool.

Both the DC and GC versions sold exceptionally poorly, so probably never, unfortunately.

EDIT: Like, to put it into perspective, Jet Set Radio, which was incredibly niche, sold 1 million overall over its entire life, whereas Skies of Arcadia, a game in the fairly safe genre of JRPG, barely broke 300k.

Probably about the same time Square-Enix gives us a Terranigma 2.5D remaster. Which hopefully is soon....

Also, a quick note to anyone wanting a sky pirate anime, there is a short anime called Erementar Gelade that exists. It also features one of my favorite character designs, a bounty hunter character with a giant pow hammer

If they ever do that it needs fast forward for battles like modern SE game rereleases have. Battles are such a slog in that game (and happen so often).

A Baten Kaitos remaster is being done... I can't imagine that sold MUCH better than Skies.

You might think you want to play that game again..but do you really want to watch Pirates Wrath and Moonstone Cannon 5000 times just to rid the world of the fascist and the cliche lost teenager who becomes so warped he needs to rely on the ancient evil to show the world how pissed he is?

I mean the latter doesnt sound that bad until you realize who you are playing as, the spike haired teen with his kid best friend and clueless no personality crush and three mentor type characters designed to teach said spikey haired teen a valuable lesson. All while exploring the biggest cliche of them all, a world with six continents each with its own color and ancient monster.

I mean the big bad empire is called Valua like Value..its just really bad writing.

I never played it so could see myself picking it up on switch to check it out.

You know, you're not wrong. It sold a tiny bit better, but not much. That said, it was made by Monolith, who haven't really done a ton of other games, whereas Sega does have a bunch of other more profitable options, so I'd imagine that might be the one thing holding it back in comparison. With Monolith, it was probably easier for them to convince Namco "Eh, why not," whereas Sega could just... Make a Sonic game, or Yakuza, or Total War, or Football Manager, etc. and so on, so it might be a tougher swing for somebody within them to get that "Eh, why not" go ahead.
