First, we found the best character from The Simpsons, and Homer Simpson swept the entire goddamn thing without breaking a sweat. Then, we stepped into video games to determine the best Final Fantasy (playable) character; the rounds here were a lot tighter, but Vivi Ornitier barely squeaked out a well-fought victory. Now it's time for one of the most iconic manga/anime series to have its own best character emerge -- I wasn't sure if I wanted to do Dragon Ball or One Piece for this one, but in a "stealthy" poll, most of you voted for Dragon Ball as your preferred franchise. So, yeah, Best Character Tournament #3 is going to be for the Dragon Ball series! For this, the entire franchise is wide open -- original, Z, GT, Super, movies, even the video games. And we're also going to set up the bracket a bit differently. While for the first two tournaments I used external sources for the seeds, that part is also going to be entirely in your hands. (It also gives me a bit of a break before dedicating another four months of my life to posting topics.) Here's how this works. There will be five rounds of nominations, each one lasting a week. In each round, you can nominate up to ten different characters from any branch of the Dragon Ball franchise. Please make it very clear who you're nominating; if I'm unsure for any reason who you're referring to in a nomination, it won't count. For example, if you just post "Trunks", that could mean two different characters, since Future Trunks is an entirely different person from Present Trunks. As noted just now, characters who have multiple canon versions count as different characters. The biggest examples I can think of off the top of my head would be Future Trunks / Present Trunks, or Goku / Goku Black / Zamasu. Those are all individual entities, and will count separately for the bracket. However, characters whose personality changes as they transform into a new version of themself (such as Cell) still count as one person. Fusions count as individuals separate from the characters who went into them (so, for example, Gotenks can be nominated separately from Goten and Trunks). If you're unsure if two different characters can be nominated individually, just ask. If a character receives ten nominations during this process (multiple nominations from the same poster will only count as one, so don't even try it), they're automatically through to the bracket. However, just because your favorite character already qualified, don't let that stop you from throwing their name out! Characters with more points during a nomination round will receive a higher seed than those with a lower vote count. So if both Goku and Vegeta end a round with 15 and 13 nominations respectively, Goku will be seeded higher than Vegeta in the bracket. For the following rounds, characters who have already qualified do not need to be nominated again, nor will further votes bump their position in the bracket. So to continue the previous example, if Goku and Vegeta receive enough nominations to qualify in Round 1, don't waste a vote on them in Round 2 -- it won't do anything. Any characters that qualify in Round 2 with more votes than a Round 1 qualifier will still be seeded lower. (So if Gohan qualifies in Round 2 with 16 votes, he's still below Goku and Vegeta, since he qualified after they did.) Hopefully those rules are clear enough, but if not, then just ask. With Super Buu 2, Super Buu 3 and Super Buu 0.5 (Buutenks, Buuhan and Buuccolo), it is still just Super Buu, only he is more articulate.
