I agree with what other people have said about Samus, Lara, and Chun-Li being surefire inclusions. For my fourth choice... I think people really underestimate the sheer popularity and influence that the Touhou franchise has had over the past quarter-century. It didn't just influence gaming by helping elevate the bullet hell genre and PC gaming in general to new heights, but it was a huge part of internet culture for a long time as well. The franchise's influence, combined with it being one of the biggest franchises that's almost entirely made up of female characters, makes its protagonist Reimu my last pick for this list.

If Peach had one or two more good games as the main protagonist, I might have given her the spot. It was very close between her and Reimu for me.
