Because studying biological anthropology opens me up to ask questions like "Why is that man 4 feet tall? Is it because he's a descendent of the sub-Saharan African tribe? Wait, why am I not 4 feet tall and why is my skin yellow? I get that there are nuances where biological and cultural complexities come into play, but focusing on those superficial nuances only makes me become aware of my racial difference, when I ought to be blind to them. I start thinking, "Oh, so I have epicanthic folds because I'm eastern mongoloid, that's why my eyes look smaller." Instead of, "I have epicanthic folds but I can see just as well as everybody else."

Idk...I feel oddly conflicted studying anthro.
