Assuming 4 people (Mom, Dad, two teenage children) live in the house.

And this is TVs, not "screens" such as phones, tablets, etc.

1-4. It's not strange to have only one central TV. It's not strange to have one for the living room and each bedroom. More than 4 would be a little strange unless there are guest rooms.

Two at the most. One in the family room and maybe one in the parent's room, if they want. Kids don't need a television in their room.

Growing up my dad was a weirdo. We had a TV in just about every room and sometimes multiple ones in the same room. Only the bathrooms and laundry room didn't have a TV. When I was very young there was a little portable TV that had antenna built in in the main bathroom, though, lmao.

Was cool always having nice TVs, but it was a total waste of money, lol.

1-4 depending on the type of family. I grew up always having a TV in my bedroom in addition to the living room TV. But I know families that only had 1 TV in the living room

2-3

1 in living room
1 in den
1 in a bedroom

If a house doesn't have a den then one in a second bedroom.

One for each kid, one for the parents, one for the living room. I'd say that's pretty standard. House size would be a factor too though.

That is much higher than the 2.5 average in the US.

Apparently.

The basement one rarely gets used. Usually just for the overflow when we have our annual Super Bowl party.

I'm actually kind of surprised that the average is only 2.5, as you can get really good 27-35 inch TVs for fairly cheap nowadays.

Growing up as a family of four, I believe we had 3 TVs total. One in the living room, one in my bedroom, and one in my sister's bedroom. My TV was mostly used to play video games since no one else in the family played.

I don't think it's uncommon to have 1 per bedroom plus one in the living room and maybe one in the dining room.

Most people just don't use more than one TV, if they even have one. Just like with economics, the average is heavily skewed by some people having dramatically more than the average. In this case 31% of Americans have 5+ TV, meaning that there is a *very* non-trivial amount of the 69% of everyone else with 2 or less TVs.

I grew up in a household with at least 8 of us so we had a few TVs spread out. 1 in the living room, 1 in this area my dad is commonly at (other side of the kitchen counter its a space next to the back door) where the family PC+modern/router and all that is at. One tiny little TV on the kitchen counter. 1 in the girl's room, 2 in us boy's room (eventually spent my own money to buy my very first not hand-me-down'd TV. It was one of those HD fat-back 1080i/720p samsung TVs. Playing in that sweet 720p for halo 2 on the OG xbox and progressive scan PS2 star ocean 3, lol)...I had the TV I bought on the left side of the room and the other TV on the right. My parent's had 1 in their bedroom.

7 overall for our sorta' big family of my parents, older brother, me, two nephews, and two neices.

For a family of 4, assuming there is a living room mainly used for when guests/family come over, 1 for this living room, 1 each for the teenager's rooms if they have seperate rooms (or sharing 1 TV for sharing a room), 1 for the parent's room, and 1 more for whatever random placement.

We have 3 in the house.

Family room
Guest bedroom
Home office

Absolutely no TVs in our master bedroom, kids' bedrooms or the living room. However when we set up our basement to be the home entertainment center, I'll put in the best damn TV I can afford in there.
