Current Events > Tried Quake 1 and 2 for the first time real quick

Quake 1 is alright. It's literally just Doom but in 3D >_> It's just you by yourself vs all the enemies in the level. It's fun, but kinda dry at times and I didn't hear any killer music within the first few missions like I did with Doom. I can see why people liked it back then tho.

Quake 2 is definitely an improvement and feels like a modern fps game almost lol. There's objectives, cutscenes, people talking. It's also way more action oriented instead of focusing on exploration and feels more linear. Only played the first 3 levels tho.

idk if I'll play these some more but it was neat to try. I only ever played the entirety of Doom 1 >_>

FPS need to go back to the fun movement mechanics Quake had. Modern ones are too slow and intentionally hinder you trying to be skilled

Yeah, I love the quick movement of Quake and Doom. It's feels so much fun weaving between enemy shots and blasting them in the face with a shotgun

I played Quake 2 ever since I was a kid and only played Quake 1 when the remaster came out. 1 was fun, but I was so used to 2 that it felt like it was missing something.

Quake 2 remaster just hit gamepass so been playing through it again after a long time. Pure shooting fun.

If you ever get the chance, assuming you haven't already, you should definitely try out Timesplitters 2. It's made by a lot of the same people that made Golden Eye and Perfect Dark.

It's fast paced, crazy with all sorts of hijinks, and all sorts of fun and awesome. Its honestly one of the best fps out there imo, and I feel like it holds up a lot better than some of the older ones. >.>

Quake 2 is one of my favorite shooters. It's just a blast to play.

Ya. Timesplitters was my favorite game by far when it came out. A real gem.

I enjoyed Doom and Quake, but didn't care much for their sequels.

I want to add that, while most FPS games stick to one genre of music and use that throughout the game, TimeSplitters 2 features a wide variety of genres, from trance music and 1930s big band jazz, to instrumental rap and literal mall muzak.

I love Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. Never played Time Splitters >_>

Quake 1 and 2 feel so different atmosphere-wise. It's like going from Jak 1 to Jak 2

The game Dusk, which came out 5 years ago, is a throwback back to 90's run & gun shooters of that era.
