I don't drink. The main reason for that is I just can't stomach the taste of alcohol. But I feel like today's the day for another shot. I took this week off, so I've nowhere to go and nothing to do.
I looked up some stuff that's supposedly good for people like me who don't like the taste. I think I'm going to try a screwdriver, a fuzzy navel, and maybe a kamikaze.

What are your guys drinks of choice?

Whiskey with ice

Vodka and diet lemonade

Whats good for people who dont like the taste of alcohol is to take shots with a strong chaser.

If you don't drink why would you actively try to force yourself to? It seems like it'd be a blessing in disguise to not be able to stomach it.

Especially if, and I'm assuming this, you'll be drinking alone.

I like spirit-forward cocktails so

Manhattan (whiskey, vermouth, bitters)
Gin & tonic, maybe with a dash of grapefruit bitters
Martini (vodka, vermouth, bitters)
Gin Martini
Gold Rush (whiskey, honey syrup, lemon)

For someone who doesnt like the taste of alcohol, i recommemd none of those

Maybe try:
Vodka cranberry
Caramel appletini

Also consider not drinking at all

Alcohol is really unhealthy and way more people struggle with alcohol abuse than you'd think

It does take a bit to adjust to the taste of alcohol. Also it depends on the type of alcohol you're drinking and the brand/quality of it. For instance, I'm not a big gin or bourbon person but I drink tequila straight by the glass.

A screwdriver, like you mentioned, is a great simple drink to attempt. OJ is strong and will mask the taste. Start with mostly OJ and a small bit of vodka. Then slowly adjust the ratios to incorporate more vodka. A lot of sugary cocktails will hide the alcohol taste well but they tend to make you feel sick off the sugar. Look for some of those flavored "moonshines" at your local store. The ones that are advertised as apple pie flavor tastes exactly like it. They tend to have a high ABV but not a strong alcohol taste so be careful.

One more tip. Make sure you stay hydrated. Drinking is fun and all but the hangover is not. Drink plenty of water as you drink your alcohol and you'll avoid the hangover the following day.

Rum and coke

I drank way too much in high school and college because that is kind of what you did where I was. But I never really liked the taste of alcohol that much, and I just havent had much to drink since my 20s. I am not opposed to it and will have a drink or two at parties and such (my fantasy football draft is coming up, and I usually have beyond my usual there). But when I am just sitting around, I reach for almost any other beverage.

I guess what I am trying to say TC is: you do you. Nothing wrong at all with drinking responsibly. But also nothing wrong with booze not being for you. Life is too short to waste it on something you dont like.

Drink a 40 of Colt aayyyy lmao

Wine is usually really good. Theres wine tasting all around to try the different types

Gin.

But my general recommendation above else:

Quality over Quantity, and ffs, never drink to get drunk.

Better to buy a bottle for 50 and drink a glass enjoying it, instead of buying some cheap stuff and empty it, because you just want the feeling of alcohol in you, and not the taste.

In the end it's cheaper and much much MUCH healthier.

I .love the taste of baileys it tastes like milkshake but slightly different. But if you can't find an alcohol drink you like why continue trying to drink it?

I tried to start smoking several times in college when I would get lonely when everyone would nic out and go outside to smoke.

Honestly, I always wanted to experience being drunk. I've been tipsy once or twice, but never proper fucked up.

Also safe drinks to try- margaritas, mudslides, mimosas, daiquiris, Long Island iced teas. Anything mixed with Baileys is good too.

For shots a Vegas bomb, Jgerbomb, fuzzy nipple, whisky sour are usually good ones.

If you dont have a taste for liquor then its best to stay away from the whiskeys, rums, and brandys. Whiskey and coke is usually a safe drink to try depending on the ration the bartender makes the drink.

For beer apple cider beers are usually good. With beer you could always get a flight where you try different types of beer to see whats of youre liking. For example, I like stouts and porters because of their milky taste.

Couple of Seagrams wine coolers will do the trick.

Safe is debatable with Long Island Ice Teas. I'd replace that with Kamikazes. Those are easy to drink and won't get you messed up really quickly.

As a guy in the wine business, I would get crucified for suggesting either but:

Just drink moscato d'asti. It tastes like sparkling Welch's grape juice (honestly sweeter). Pinot grigio, if you want less sweet, but still pretty fruity.

But also, yeah don't force yourself to drink lmao.

Banana Rum is the only drink i like (well this blue drink called zombie is ok too)

So I tried the screwdriver. Just tastes like plain old oj. It did hide the alcohol taste, which was nice.

Now trying the fuzzy navel. Holy shit, this is good. Tastes like what I imagine peach juice must taste like.

Haven't tried the kamikaze yet.

If you don't like drinking, head towards the fruitier side of alcoholic drinks. I'm not a big drinker myself so if I'm forced to drink I'll have a Mikes hard black cherry lemonade, sour puss with ginger ale, or a shot of Sambuca, which I know is an acquired taste. My social drink is a Whiskey Sour, which sounds fancy enough that it makes me seem like a big shot, but all it is is Whiskey that tastes slightly like citrus.

Oh you're doing mixed drinks at a bar... Long Island Ice Teas my man.

If you're at home and want a good tea taste, 40 oz cup, 28 oz water, 12 oz (the little part of the 40 oz cup) whiseky. It just tastes like tea.

Is there a shot-version of the whiskey sour? I've only had it as a cocktail, which is my go-to drink.

pour the whiskey into a shot glass, drink it, then eat a lemon or lime slice

obviously you see this with tequila and salt, but it works for anything really, a slice of lime as a "chaser"

Vodka and Coke Zero for me.

taking shots has such a negative cultural association, but it's the best way to regulate your alcohol intake if you want to get drunk and not suffer any negative effects

when u feel tipsy, you switch to half-shots. feel even slightly sick or tired? literally stop drinking.

I don't know why you want to start drinking on purpose, but it's your life to fuck as you please.

My friends and I drank Boone's Farm when I was a teen. It tasted like soda/pop to me and I loved it. It's also cheap (or use to be) and will definitely get you drunk.

svedka vodka: $20 for 1.75L of triple-distilled pure alcohol. clear, no trace stuff.

Hope it doesn't become a habit, it's expensive and incredibly self-destructive. I drink, and I like it, but I like it too much.

A few suggestions:

* Alcoholic ciders. Somersby is a very sweet cider, probably the closest you can find to an alcoholic drink that tastes like a soda. Bulmers is a little more boozy so you might not like it, but fuck that's a good drop.

* Vodka. You still get the boozy taste if you add too much of it, but vodka covers up extremely well. Smirnoff is the western standard as far as middle-shelf vodkas go - compared to a top-shelf brand like Grey Goose or a hundred generic bottom-shelf brands - and I'm rather partial to Skyy vodka in the blue bottle. You can get vodka in just about anything; juice in particular is a common vector for which to consume vodka, whether it be orange, cranberry, pineapple etc.

* Depending on your sense of taste? Gin. Gin is made with juniper berries, and other botanicals like orange rind are infused into the liquor for a very unique, powdery/flowery sort of taste. Gin is often used in martinis, and if you enjoy bitter flavors, try a gin and tonic. Tonic water is tart and citric, and it pairs perfectly with gin. Don't like gin? Vodka and tonic. It's that simple.
