i'm trying to ween myself off twitter because it's become a cesspool. :v Can I trust you guys to keep me apprised of current events? Like, is there a form I can fill out of stuff I'm interested in hearing about? For example: vidya games, cats, spooky stories, ohio, lgbtq+ issues, cinema (but not marvel stuff)

I go to Reddit. And sometimes copy and past popular Reddit threads to here.

No, this is just a message board. I wouldn't say this is a good site for all news, but most political stuff makes it here.

I just watch reuters.com/video while eating and it catches me up fine.

I used to read the local daily newspaper. Had it delivered to the house and everything. I think I was the most informed when I did that... Especially for the local stuff that doesn't always get covered by local news. And, I feel like newspapers have a leg up on "breaking" news as they have more time to get the facts straight by design. This is actually making me consider subscribing again... Local journalism is so important..

Now I just watch the local news and the national news at 6:30. Not every day but I try. My son is doing football this year and has practice four nights a week and I've volunteered to be on the booster club so I have a meeting to attend once a week.

I also try to listen to some NPR, read CNN.com and Fox News.com. All are somewhat biased, especially Fox in my opinion, but I try to get a little bit of every point of view. Have occasionally watched some stuff on my local PBS station, too.

My advice is to get the news from as many locations as possible and think about what you're being provided with. What bias does a certain organization have? Why would someone present their argument in a specific way? Study the issues...
