Some have figured this out, but the problem here is you need child actors to mo-cap... and that can be more expensive with all the requirements for employing children as actors, and more difficult to direct children while in an expensive suit for long periods of time.

Or they have to hire professional actors with special skillsets. This extends to animals as well. You can probably get a dog to behave on command how you want while in an expensive wired up apparatus...but have you tried getting a cat to move how you want it to?

Playing some modern games makes me pine for the old ps2 lighting system where it was just a giant lamp in the middle of the sky box

Yeah, that always bugged me. Some games are better about it than others but they still have an unrealistically shallow light beam.

If you got an AAA developer that cant do the things I listed then yes theyre taking shortcuts lol.

They still cant figure out even in games with romance how to make two characters connect their lips together properly.

Liquids always look low rendered too unless its a body of water.

I feel like I would do this one intentionally. If I got a child's movements correct, people might say that I spent too much time studying the movements of children. If I rotoscoped a child, people might say it was unfair to a child to have them covered up in lightbulbs and motion sensors.

If movement accuracy were important, I'd probably hire a little person and rotoscope them.

I mean, on one hand programmers are lazy.
On the other hand, processing power is limited so it is better used elsewhere, and both the developing time and budget are limited so they cant optimize the code enough to add such minor details.
