So about a month and a half ago I had a topic asking if it was hard to transfer to a new debit card. The resounding answer was no but I never got to see for myself since I haven't received a new one. My old card has been working just fine with no more problems, until yesterday that is.

I pulled $20 from the vault and put it on my card and went to McDonald's. I ordered at the menu kiosk and my card was declined. Now I've seen errors and messages saying I didn't have enough on the card, but this was the first time it was flatout declined. So I paid in cash and went to the dollar store. Tried the card there, declined again.

My first thought was they finally got around to sending out my new card and deactivated my current one. However I called the bank helpline and I typed the card info in and it said nothing about the card being out of service, it even gave me the available balance. I wanted to talk to someone but I was literally on hold for an hour before I hung up.

Later in the night I decided to try the card again, this time online in the PS store. I found a couple cheap add-ons and went to check out. This time the sale goes through no problem, within 30 seconds I had the receipt email and the amount was deducted from my card.

If you read all that ,first off thank you. Then my question is does anybody have experience with something like this, why my card was denied for about one or two hours?

sometimes Cards cant be read so they get auto declined. Did you try to wipe it with your shirt and do the swipe or card reader again after it was auto declined?

Had the same thing happen to me. My current card expired, and the bank employee told me Id automatically receive a new one before the end of the month. She also said my expired card would work until I activated my new one.

Sadly, no. They had mistakenly mailed my new card to my old address even though I informed the bank when I moved of my new address. My new card was returned, thus deactivating my old card.

What I had to do was go to the nearest branch and request a temp card until they could re-send a new one. They had it at the bank and it didnt cost anything. Finally got my new card btw.

Well after another 30 minutes on hold I finally got to speak to someone. It turns out they are having issues with their system and that is why some things are going through and some aren't and my card itself is still active. Good thing this didn't happen last week when rent was due.
