I can't seem to find the answer on the internet. I get anywhere from 600 to 800 calories, but that seems imprecise at best. A box of a pound of pasta says it'd be 8x200 calories, which would make 1600 calories. But that is almost certainly not in the yield once cooked. So wtf is going on? I can't figure out how much I need to eat.

Why would the calory ratio of pasta be different after cooking?

It gets heavier because of water. Think about it.

Not to mention that nutrients can be stripped away in the process, usually with vegetables. Not sure if thats the case with pasta though.

And youd think I should know, with pasta being my favourite food and like 75% of my diet!

idk but it doesn't feel like I've eaten almost a whole day's worth of calories after eating just a pound of pasta.

There is not a linear relationship between calories and stomach fullness or satiety. Foods that have a lot of volume or fibre or lack sweetness tend to be very filling. Like pasta.

I can put away a box's (16 oz precooked) worth of pasta fairly easily if I just eat it with olive oil and salt.
