Seriously I don't get it. They remade FoMT so all of the assets they need are already there. Aside from a VC and NSO release (in Japan), HM64 continues to get sidelined. It is by *far* the best entry in the franchise. It still hasn't been topped by any HM/SOS game.

Is there any particular reason for it? It seems odd to remake FoMT and AWL but leave 64 hanging.

HM64 is my favorite but Tree of Tranquility is the best in the franchise. Remake that game instead and release HM64 on NSO for everyone else.

Trio of Towns should also get the NSO treatment. For some reason the dialogue in that game is the best the series has ever had.

I didn't play Tree of Tranquility. Was that before the series split?

Idk why but I had a lot more fun with HM64 than any other I played.

It was lively, the soundtrack is great, the characters are all likeable, there's rival marriages (something AWL does not have), the days are JUST long enough for you to get everything done, most of the festivals are fun and engaging, the town is decently large (the whole map is fairly big for an HM game), upgrading your farm feels incredibly rewarding, etc... so much about that game is just AAA. The only downside is there's not much to do in the winter without a greenhouse.

Green house was extremely crucial. I liked the town layout and overall aesthetic more than BtN. I think that was the ps1 HM out around the same time most people seem to say is the better game.

BtN and FoMT are the same game but I definitely don't agree with those people. BtN/FoMT is too slow and painfully grindy. It takes so long to make any satisfying progress in that game.

The SNES version got on NSO with no problems.

64 is still my favorite one and I'd love to see a modern remake of it. I always felt it was the most "mysterious" back then with all the rumors and secrets surrounding the game, but it also had this kind of melancholy tone that only AWL kind of came close to capturing. If that same feel could be replicated, it would be great.

That said, probably not going to happen since it's coming to the NSO expansion pack - at least in Japan, for now. I don't think it's a rights issue at this point since it was on the Wii U VC so it'll probably get dropped eventually.

I think it's already on the Japan library.

I tried to get into HM64 but just couldn't. It's so god damn dated. And this is coming from me, who played Back to Nature on ps1 recently before that.

Some of the HM games are masterpieces, like FomT, and some are unfinished buggy messes like that Gamecube one. That one was so bad. It had hardly any content, very few activities, very few character interactions, if you got a goat, it would be the only one you could have, and when it stopped giving milk, you would just have dead weight on your farm because you couldnt do anything with it.

I dont trust this series.

The Switch version has all kinds of QoL improvements. I don't remember the original having character requests, for instance, and it also seems to be much, much easier to make money this time around. Cows also don't just randomly stop giving milk now.

While I'm here, and for some reason I can't tag Hoth...does anyone know why in AWL I can't plant turnips or sweet potatoes? The option is just not there...at all. I've done it before but the game just refuses to let me now, regardless of which soil it is. Wtf is going on?
