19th, 20th century? Could say the lower taxes, centrist, nationalist rhetoric. It was backed up by reality, a radio & newspaper. Seems like they're just doing the opposite of NPR, these days. "Own the libs" became "own the normal people". Of course, this is only how it seems to me.

Yeah but it seems like a false memory, wishful thinking. I've read journalism from the 1960s-70s and they were better than today. Nobody gave a shit about this stuff, not even rural farmers or concerned suburbs... without the cable TV + social media echo chamber
