I've heard horror stories of elder abuse about some of them, but dont know enough about them as a whole to have an opinion. In theory they seem good.

My grandma has spent the last 5 or 6 years in nursing homes/assisted living centers. She seemed relatively happy in the first one when her memory was still good and there's really no way she could keep living at home.

My grandpa stayed in one the last few months of his life and wasn't having any of it.

not a huge fan of nursing homes in general, but my grandpa was in a veteran's home in his last years and i think it was ok for what it was (a state funded nursing home for vets). i do remember the food was fucking awful though, i felt bad for him in that aspect. however since he was in the early stages of dementia, the employees were always telling us about the random goofy shit he would do. he seemed to enjoy himself there.
