Lots of people, many indigenous just go missing from Highway 16. By 2005 it got so bad police had to try harder to look into it. Though the only thing the police could figure out is that theres not one but multiple serial killers out there. Everyone out there is so isolated when someone gets snatched, hardly anyone ever notices.

In 1989, an entire family went missing, convinced to leave in the middle of the night to go work. The last thing the husband told his mother before hanging up was "if I dont come back, come looking for me".

Yeah I probably shouldn't have watched this right before bed.

I needed to play a few matches of OW2 to relax.

Also it's sick they forced indigenous children to go to these reeducation schools that were more like cults and didn't let them interact with their siblings and the last of these schools were opened till 1997.

Serial Killers, rapists, extremist nationalists who hate, and job bosses that hire cheap labor off the books then "get rid of them" if they don't like not getting fully paid.

That covers probably most motivations.

Well I thought this was a pretty interesting topic and important for people to be aware of.

I did not have a good experience in British Columbia. Vancouver and Victoria are basically Seattle. And when I visited the University of British Columbia, the cheap dorms were full of roaches and they had to upgrade us to the towers.

When I moved to Alaska, my family drove up from WA state through rural BC and Yukon

I can understand how stuff like this happens. A lot of that area is very remote. I think a few times we went like over an hour without seeing other cars. It's probably pretty lawless in those places

They have been doing this for centuries. Its been pushed back to British Columbia but this happened all over the place. Hell this was America's main driver for its economy for Christ sakes. Not to mention other nations who ended it before them and are still doing it today.

It's truly sad but there's a lot of indigenous people (primarily youny women) who disappear right outside reservations. It's actually one of the largest groups of missing/murdered people in North America. I definitely think more light has to be shed on this.

There's a yearly book I read from a group called Project Censored that compiles a list of the top 25 censored or underreported news stories of the year, as well as general media analysis.

The #1 story they chose for the 2021 edition had to do with the epidemic of missing and murdered indigenous women and girls and how little attention it gets from both the mainstream media and authorities.

I mean it would be helpful if Canadians were allowed to defend themselves. They are not allowed pepper spray but they are allowed bear spray. BS are big cans that are difficult to carry around everywhere, where as PS can fit on your keychain. Also even if you have the BS with you and use it to defend yourself from a human its illegal to do so.
