Like for basically anything with instructions that tell you to wait a certain amount of time (such as after caulking something), it's usually recommended to wait 24 hours. Why is this the case though? I assume it's typically easier than giving an arbitrary waiting time and that nothing "bad" would happen if you were a few hours short of 24.

I'm on team "consider it an absolute minimum before you even think about trying it." I've seen some PVC cement jobs fail at minimum cure time.

Why do cooking instructions always say shit like "heat for 3:30" when it's so much easier to cook it for 3:33?
