agree this just adds so much more depth to the series

I also realized SF3 did it as well. But a different style of street, contemporary with its decade. Man no wonder that game felt like it had such a strong identity

the number of entrants this year was kinda insane. its a 10-15+% increase across all games entrants wise

MK had like a 20-30% increase wtf

also twtich numbers are up day 1-2 by like 10% day 2 was more to 15% i think

As someone who did not watch any other top 6's, were there any good ones worth recommending? I'm pretty open minded to new games

you should! tickets are fairly cheap for hotel rooms if you dont mind walking ir ubering

rio/oyo is a c/D tier hotel but an get a room at 55-65$ a night lmao you have to uber tho

Didn't know leffen was that good at Strive. He had a really good team in DBZF too, eh? Any idea if he entered SF6?

I saw a lot of players using HitBOX style controllers. I feel like Im too old to be making the switch now

Also, I see companies like Razer making a all-button controller in the style of HitBOX. They never made a patent on that or they werent able to?

There are a lot of players who made the switch, but take comfort in knowing that the guy who won SF (AngryBird) still uses a traditional stick.

Everything I know about UMVC 3 is that low level is really hard, mid level is apparently the best fighting game ever made, and a high level is absolutely miserable.

I feel like that describes most fighting games

Disappointed Sonicfox didn't make Top16 in SF6.

But it just reiterates the elite on that game are truly otherworldly.

Also worth noting, Menard had won one of the biggest SF tournaments in the world twice before making top 8 at Evo

That Marvel Top 8 was probably the least charismatic I've ever seen Combofiend

He seemed bored and annoying constantly pointing out the mistakes and in general being negative. Didn't bring any hype at all. He must really hate Zero teams

Everyone does tbqh, he's a poorly designed character that needed nerfs Capcom wasn't able to give

I get a kick out of how they jumped through all those hoops to dig UMVC3 up and bring it back, only to end up making the old nightmare scenario real, ZMC vs ZMC grand finals.

Youtube comments for the grand finals are kinda entertaining too. There's a real vibe of "Oh no. We're not coming back next year, are we?"

To start, make the hitbox direction of his dash consistent for where it started from so it's not a 50/50 when you drop into a corner.

Makes sense lol not only was it ZMC mirror but it was also a 3-0 stomp. It was pretty anticlimactic.

If KI can get a balance patch 5 years after the developers moved on, UMVC3 could get one too.

Unfortunately Disney are allegedly impossible to work with regarding that and want Marvel characters given preferential treatment

I'd be curious what the bounds of that contract is, though. At the very least, Capcom nerfing Zero and other capcom characters shouldn't require Disney's approval. The real question would be could they buff weak Capcom characters as well without Disney being involved? Basically, if Capcom could potentially drop a huge buff/nerf patch that only touches Capcom characters and if Disney is unhappy with that then they can grant permission to do the same with their characters as well.

From what I understood, Disney by the time of Marvel vs Capcom Infinite were being really hardcore micro-managers to Capcom.
Not so much as for balance, but for a ton of things that made Capcom chaff under them, such as really dumb specifics like "how a characters hands should move during an idle stance" (Strange), or overriding certain character choices from the Marvel side OR the Capcom side, the overall choice in music, and that the Marvel characters should never look "bad" against any Capcom characters.

The constant nitpicks and bellyaching was pretty bad with Ultimate MvC3, but Infinite was at its zenith and with how that game turned out and was received, Capcom has been fairly hostile working directly with Disney after that.

Reportedly, Square-Enix had to endure the same nonsense when Kingdom Hearts 3 was made, but that game sells like insanity so I guess SE's better at putting up with it for the sake of making a 4th game.

Sucks that there would probably never be another Marvel vs Capcom game ever again. Im still hoping for an official re-release of MvC2 on modern consoles and PC with improved sprites, graphics, and sound.

I would love to see another fast-paced 3v3 tag fighter from Capcom. Probably just do away with Marvel and just use their own properties. Hopefully it wont be a disaster like Capcom Fighting Jam/Evolution.

Oh I noticed something while watching.

We all know Luke's Level 3 is "Going to Memphis".

Sajam referred to it as that once and then Yipes said "SAJAAAAM" like he was half popping off to the round win but half admonishing Sajam.

And then they didn't refer to it as that again.

Is there a commentator's rule not to call it "Going to Memphis" or something?

Player 2 looks like he's well into his 40s. Then again, isn't Daigo in his 40s too? I figure you peak in fighting games in your mid-20s. I feel like my reaction times are slower when I got into my late 30s and doing manual combos are getting harder.

I wonder how many of these players are on Adderall?

Generally yes, but that doesn't mean there aren't gods out there who will remain gods well into their middle age. Don't forget at that level that it can be something as simple as who's having the better day.

Don't underestimate Asians bro lol. I know they're not in their 40s but Knee and Tokido are 38 and are still playing at a high level.

Freaky thing is, I looked up Infiltration too since I remembered he was dominating Street Fighter before his ban and he's also 37-38.

Looking at the age of your account, are you projecting?

Some of those old school player can still pwn the shit out of a lot of younger ones due to sheer experience and that most fighting games operate on similar set of rules and meta knowledge.

And even then still have the reflexes that even most fresh-faced youngsters struggle with when picking up a fighting game.
