Nobodies butt hurt, I think some people are more just burnt out on click baity headlines that don't accurately reflect a given story.

And tbh, no not really. It's tragic and awful and I'm sorry it happened but beyond that I'll probably have forgetten about it within a week - same as everyone else.

All anyone is really doing with this information is basically "thoughts and prayers" or putting whatever other comment on it I guess so they can be seen doing it, because every single story or piece of information requires their commentary.

That or pointing out the OP doesn't actually reflect the article. I'm pretty sure most the people that did that wouldn't have responded at all otherwise, they'd have just read the story.

We're just sick of click baity shit with buzzwords like "incel" because we walk into the conversation expecting a certain story. And then we realize this had nothing (that we are aware of) to do with incels.

My biggest concern is people joking and normalizing rape regardless of the context. It's disgusting, triggering for some, and tends to make the world worse.

Andrew Tate has no official association with incels and and most self-identified incels don't even like him. The incel community started on the forum "Pick-Up Artist Hate"; they hated seduction coaches for scamming lonely men (believing instead that their situation was hopeless), and Tate's the textbook example of a guy scamming lonely men.

Tate promotes the "red pill," the notion that women love masculine assholes, while the incel community promotes the "black pill," the notion that women are shallow and only respond to looks. Tate considers incels whiny losers who need to improve themselves (by becoming macho douchebags), incels consider Tate a degenerate liar and his "success" an example of everything wrong with modern dating.

Yes a lot of Tate's supporters don't get laid and do hate women, but they don't consider themselves incels or agree with any incel community philosophies (beyond both having negative opinions of women/feminists/liberals), so any link is tenous.

This is the issue being highlighted, wildly different types of misogynists being sloppily conflated.

Hell, this particular killer had the social skills to lure the women to a secluded area before assaulting them. A basement dweller wouldn't even be capable of that, he'd set off alarms right away.

There are photos of him with women on top of him having a confirmed ex, he was clearly socially functional, he's just a terrible person.

Most police organizations world wide file the entire "red pill, black pill, etc" as part of the incel umbrella.

It's a bit bizarre since PUA/alpha male/red pill stuff heavily predates the incel stuff and the types of crimes the two groups commit often differ. Basically none of the openly incel-aligned mass murderers have ever done any sexual assaults (Tate-style crimes), for example.

That's basically the case. They're all part of the "manosphere" in which every corner is focused purely on men's interests to the exclusion or detriment of women. I guess I'm just trying to say that "incels" are merely a subset of the group, rather than the whole thing or even majority of it. Painting them as the entirety dangerously takes focus off of socially competent predators, who statistically pose more of a risk to women.

The guy cheering on atrocities for the incel revolution and the guy spamming "free Tate" on social media are actually (usually) very different types with seperate MOs. The former is more likely to target large groups at random, while the latter is more likely to harm specific women. The killer the topic refers to didn't fit the general incel profile, so I wasn't surprised when I discovered he wasn't one.

Basically it's easier to be on guard with accurately detailed pictures of the threat models.
