SO how do you operate. Do you just stay at home until you get something that you like. Or do you just park in town to be ready for an order.

I don't do DoorDash but at least with UberEats, I wait in an area with lots of restaurants and other locations that can do Uber and wait for an order to ping. I imagine DoorDash is similar. You can also do predetermined pickups like how TC is showing with his DoorDash pics but those are far rarer on UberEats in my experience

Quite frankly I wish tips weren't the only way to get even a decent price on these orders. These food delivery apps need to pay their drivers better

Im pretty close to a bunch of places, so Ill just stay home and run the apps sometimes to see if anything decent pops. As of lately though I rarely go out.

Last time I went out it was in a big rainstorm. UE tossed me like a $30 order for BWW. Drove there, got a DD for BWW along the way. Got there, BWW was closed. Reported them closed, got half pay for the DD order. Immediately got another DD at BWW after doing that. Took it, reported the store closed again, got half pay again. Made $15 just for driving to BWW that night.

In all the time I was posting DD orders here, I had one UE pop. Walgreens order for $17. Delivery was to this apartment complex where a woman was murdered a week ago, so.. passed on that for now.

Eh.. distance wise its fine, yes. But the issue is what if the pickup and delivery are terrible and time consuming? I could spend a half hour or more on that easily still. $9/hr aint great. Youre rolling the dice.

Your acceptance rating will go down when declining orders. The only way you get top dasher around here is by taking those small paying orders but you get priority on higher paying orders. Taking those small orders does pay off in the long run.

I'm pretty self conscious about this stuff. I always try to order around 3 miles or less, I try to do big orders (I'll get like a family meal, half for lunch and half for dinner and maybe leftovers for tomorrow), almost never order drinks, and always tip at least $5.

Lol no. It absolutely would NOT pay off, especially in my area. Theres plenty of evidence that shows a high dollar order per DDs standards might still only be like $5-6. Every area is different so maybe there are cases where its better, but in general cherry picking is the way to go, and going for top dasher is only going to screw yourself. Why do you think DD so heavily promotes the top dasher program? If its good for DD, its not good for drivers.

They barely offer these in my area these days. Probably because they have enough top dashers in the area to do it without promos. Why pay more?

Some folks try to stick with $2/mi. I dont see how that is possible whatsoever in my area. Its downright impossible. $1/mi is good, but Ill take into account other factors. Is the pickup restaurant good? Is delivery to a house vs apartment? Etc?

No pings yet since dropping off the pizza. Just sitting in the hospital parking lot. Might drive home and go back to bed.

Going for Top Dasher guarantees a time slot to schedule, you get high priority on higher paying orders and just because it isn't worth it to you doesn't mean it's not worth it to others.

Well that is fine then. Chances are you are in an area where it is worth it then, perhaps. What I will say though is that if you are in a good area, you may still have even done well without being TD. No way of telling, but I can tell you with certainty in my area, it aint great.
