I dunno. Tears of the Kingdom was made because they had too many ideas for a BotW DLC, I feel like they tapped the well dry with that game. There's nowhere else for that world and that setting to go, and the Wild notebooks are empty.

I think the next Zelda game is going to be a different spin on the franchise. The Wild games were very sparse regarding people and settlements, if they do another open world game I think they'll try their hand at big, bustling cities and small, worn-in towns.

Keep the formula, but change the setting. TotK was great, but I don't want to do BotW's world again.

Which means Zeldas basically dead to me, sadly. Open world design becoming ubiquitous has ruined AAA gaming.

I think they could pull it off once more with a Dark World mechanic like alttp. I know I keep repeating it but given how large the depths were on current switch hardware, it should g feasible on the switch successor without issue.

I do think it should stop with a trilogy though.

I think it's best for it to stay open world. It's getting harder to not find arbitrary geometry (or at some points straight up invisible walls) as barriers between areas incredibly jarring. I wish devs would go in the direction of smaller, more dense open worlds though. I would have preferred if totk had scrapped the depths entirely in favor of giving us bigger/more settlements, more interesting caves, and expand more on the sky ruins. The race for more and more square km is tiring

They have to "make thing people like" first before they can make more of it
