But they normally wait for cooler temperatures at night to open their pores and breath. The temperature at night this year is still very hot, effectively suffocating the plants. Causing them to drop limbs, lean over, and eventually collapse. Some of these plants have been alive for over a century. --- I got asthma bruh. And while I doubt this is the case, most the time I seen a cactus collapse like that is due to too much water, since they store too much and get too heavy That is not to say this heat is not a problem. Juvenile Saguaros and unsprouted seeds need cooler temps. So it is not the fully grown 100+ year old ones in danger but future generations.
