They seem to have game carts (including a hard to find one) for a fairly low price.

Of course I am always wary of new sites, regardless. Has anyone here used either one of these sites?

I've used Etsy before and it's a legit. Look at the seller's account and the feedback to give you a good idea if you want to purchase from them or not but also be cautious because you never know who might be a scammer with fake reviews. Overall, it's a pretty safe and reliable site.

Edit: Looking back at your post makes me want to say that my comment is for the majority of etsy sellers as they're usually people selling their own products. Someone selling games is a little different as it's selling someone else's product. I suppose you approach it like ebay or something.

Etsy is a store by store thing. They do have an issue with Chinese bootleg stores, so definitely make sure its a store with good reviews and clear labeling whether something is legit or a reproduction display cart.

I used etsy back in november to pay someone to mod my beyerdynamic DT 770 pro 80 ohm headphone cord (which was starting to wear down and expose the cords on the inside) into a removable one. Dude got it done in like a week. The site itself is legit.

Now that game cart you are looking at could possibly be a reproduction though. Usually the sellers is clear about that. (Like I have been thinking of getting a copy of star ocean 2 blue sphere for the gameboy color myself. This never released outside of japan, so the sellers on etsy made it clear that its just a repro-cart with the recent fan-translation patched onto the rom).

The other site, Gamesets, has the English translation of a certain cart not released in the states for the SNES.

It is listed at $17.99, and since it was never released in the states, is at least, an independent port.

You can never be too sure. It might be legit, it might not be.

its not legit, but the carts run fine.

if youre a collector its obviously a bad site but if youre trying to play a game as long as reviews are good youll probably get your wish 9.5/10 times

Etsy is definitely all repros. If you're in the market for those, I've had some good luck there, no bad experiences. If you want legit copies, absolutely not

Like others have said, Etsy is generally a place to buy stuff people make themselves. If you're seeing a game cart on there it is 1000% a reproduction.

That said, stuff on Etsy tends to be high quality rather than cheap Chinese crap so it very likely is better quality than if you'd bought an official one. Check the specific store's reviews for a better feel on that. If you're looking for an official item as a collector you're gonna have to look on eBay or something.

Yeah, I am looking for the english translation of DW3 SNES. It was never released in the states, so it is definitely a repro. Gamesets has it for $17.99 so it is definitely not an original.

I know it might work, as the World of Longplays channel has a 7 parter on the english dub of the game.

As long as I get a functional cart and I don't have to freeze my credit card, then all is well.

youre pretty safe then tbh, check the reviews and no red flags and youre pretty safe.

Etsy itself Ive bought tons on outside gaming. The site itself never had any issues

I guess one can also check wikipedia as a buffer.

Also, no one here has any experience on GameSets?

Well, the sites history says they have 40 years experience in gaming, but it's only been up for 1-2 years.

I guess also check wikipedia, and see if they got an article, as well.
(Note:GameSets does not have one)

With GameSets, you know you are paying them for either a rom-hacked cart or a bootleg fake. I tend to not give people money for somebody else's work.

As long as they are safe to use (the site and the cart make). I don't like it either, but it's the only way we can play it.

eh honestly I dont even see it that way. I owned soul silver and heart gold for instance, now its not Nintendo's fault they are gone but since they dont sell it anymore (Id buy a port for 60 on the switch, fuck it) my two options are:
-$20 on Etsy for a copy that not only works but still links fine to my buddys copy so we can battle/trade
-pay $160 plus for a real copy thats still not making Nintendo a cent

so paying someone for someone elses work here really means very little to me. If Nintendo wanted money for their work they would port over a lazy copy to the market
