Photograph of what is possibly Samuel Morse from 1839. If true, would be the oldest known photograph of someone famous (who was not primarily a photographer).

Footage of British television recorded in the United States from 1938. Weird atmospheric patterns allowed for US TVs to pick up the signal.

The first digital photograph ever from 1957.

Someone playing a guitar from 1853 or 1854. The earliest known audio recording ever. Note that this never actually was intended to be played back. It was recorded into lines using a phonautograph. In 2008 someone used a computer to read the lines and turn it back into sound.

The first two people ever captured in a photograph. The camera had an exposure time of five minutes, so the only people who appear are a man getting his shoes shined, and the person shining them, since they were stationary for the full exposure time.

The world's oldest known cat photo. I guess the cat really didn't want to sit still for it.

The earliest surviving jazz recording. Livery Stable Blues (1917) by the Original Dixieland Jass Band. The part at 1:17 is supposed to be the instruments imitating a barn door opening followed by the animals getting out. Kind of hard to tell though due to the overall bad recording quality of music before electronic microphones.
