Posted 2021, I wonder if Terry Crews knows what's being parodied at each point of that collab?
I remember hearing something a while ago about him referencing Mother 3 which was also in there. Maybe he's working through it section by section.

They are in their own world of shmups. I dont like how they overshadowed the more traditional shmups, but they arent bad games.

The fanbases can get really weird and kind of fbi watchlist weird too.

I believe he did an LP of the visual novel Danganronpa so he definitely seems a bit versed in these meme culture media.

LP as in recorded himself playing through the game once or LP as in actually made a detailed playthrough, tried to be informative and all that?
I feel like LP means a few conflicting things nowadays.

I'm glad you mentioned that. I was thinking about that a few days ago. Let's play pretty much just means any commentated video these days, and are actually usually blind playthroughs. The informative stuff are "100% walkthroughs" and they're more often than not without commentary and if they are, they're usually text.

Right? I blame the reaction cams personally.
I've seen blind playthroughs where the player bought a lore master along as a co-commentator to give them and the viewer context which is better but still not something I'd want if I was searching for LPs.

Very true. Although I will note it is interesting to see blind reactions to some things. I would like it if there were let's plays of something experiencing something blind for the first time and then later LPing them 100%ing the game but those are rare and far between.

I've randomly found myself looking through old Touhou videos lately. It's weird recognising YT comments like you just saw them appear the other day, then seeing 11 years ago next to them.

I believe Labyrinth of Touhou is a very well received Etrian Odyssey inspired fangame. There's also puppet performance which is pretty well received as a Pokemon fangame too I heard.

puppet perfomance is really good, it's clear it was made by someone who is very familiar with pokemon (some of the mons/archetypes are very familiar, like I think one of the sakuyas is literally scizor) but who cleaned up a lot of little annoyances in the games. If you want something very different from pokemon don't try it, but if you're looking for pokemon++ it's great

my favourite touhou game is gensokyo no nazo, which is a fangame of atlantis no nazo (which I suspect no one here has ever played). it's a 2D action/exploration game that's quite maze-like

Yeah, I saw a clip of a endgame battle where everything was max level and there was even a mirror match! A lot of creative concepts to be sure.
