People think CE is bad, but LUE was like this place, but with more obscene posts.

20 years ago, you could get banned for posting political or religious based comments.

Today you can get banned for hair trigger shit as well. Its just the subjects that have changed.

LUE wasnt that bad. Their most extreme shit was tame by some of the things to happen in years since.

lue is still around and is basically just mid 30s and older people kinda like ce, just not as active and slightly more mature

LUE was nothing like Ce. LUE had the unholy trinity and other lewd stuff, as well as censor bypasses and people breaking the message boards by exploiting the system. CE just has weird mask-off racists who get banned for saying weird stuff, threatening people, or spreading misinformation.

I never saw LUE cuz I joined in 2006, but from what I heard it was basically prototype-/b/

I cant speak for CE in 03, i was exclusively on RI at the time. At that time RI was a larger board and i can promise you that it had the exact same shit that LUE had.

Site glitches like bolding other peoples posts outside of their control (sometimes entire topics) and exploits to stretch pages (after the original way to do it was fixed) were discovered on RI and spread through the Outboards.

The UT didnt even originate on this site. Shock sites had those first (among several others dating back to the mid 90s before the boards).

LUE just got that situation with trolling that dead girls live journal as well as harassing some other people on and off site that led to it being quarantined. It wasnt like some kind of weird cult of psychos were running free plotting to kill the site.

Even Boardwalkers and exploiters didnt use LUE as a hub for that shit.

comparatively i guess
lue was pretty extreme for the dawn of the millennium
but by todays standards was tame as fuck and todays ce is worse
lue was closed well over a decade before you could say fuck on gamefaqs and most of us were teens during steriluezation

Hilariously enough easier to get banned from its current iteration than it is to get banned on gfaqs (but I think that is saying more about GFAQs ineptitude than anything)

nah, those were three entirely different things. LUE was huge, alive, and unstoppable. it made its mark at the time. but of course everything changes, and tech makes everything from yesteryear seem small and useless. but at the time, it was incredibly alive, and crazily active.

old-school ri was the busiest board on the site until most of the regs there migrated to lue around '01. lue became the busiest board ever on the site and nothing has come close to pre steriluezation levels. in its prime you could post a topic on lue and within 5 minutes it would be on the second page if it didn't get any posts. topics could go to 500 within 30-45 min at times

LUE is a pretty sound place these days.

But if it was pulling the sort of shit online today that it did in the build-up to the ExcLUEsion Zone being established, it would be the front runner in the Republican Primary.
