Back in the day, they would hire John Wayne's son or the guy who played Disney's Zorro to be Sinbad. With a slight grandfather clause exception for John-Rhys Davies as Indiana Jone's pal, Sallah, that has become a taboo. And while I agree with racially accurate casting, there's a problem in that some characters are simply abandoned rather than portrayed accurately. https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/7/5/7/AAdlC_AAEs91.jpg Nobody wants to see a movie where Chris Pratt or Tom Holland costars as a sailor adrift who got picked up by Sinbad's crew, and Hollywood doesn't want a movie with an entirely Arab cast, so movies like these simply don't get made anymore. We should be able to have films like Mulan, Ali Baba, 47 Ronin, Sinbad, or Seven Samurai without having to shoehorn in a "relatable" White guy protagonist or deuteragonist. Disney managed to make live action adaptations of Mulan and Aladdin, but they were pretty much obligated to. It would have been a little conspicuous if everyone else had a live action adaptation but them. ... Copied to Clipboard!
