The real life story this movie is based on is pretty interesting in and of itself.

It's about this dutch art forger in nazi occupied Netherlands who swindled the nazis out of millions by selling them fake portraits and claiming they were long lost paintings of famous painters but he himself was painting it.

I wasn't expecting to like this movie but I did, some strong performances all around. Its both a political thriller and courtroom thriller as he stands trial and tries to prove his innocence

Apparently, Pearce was terrible in Australian soap opera Neighbours, back when he looked like this:

(He's the one on the right).

People who saw him in that are shocked that he turned into such a good actor.

That's all weight loss baby.

One of the wild things about Neighbours is how often I've heard it mentioned when discussing big name Australian actors. Lots of legit a-listers have come out of that soap, which is wild to me as an American. We have decades-long running soaps here, but if anyone makes it big or even gets to the level of being a supporting character in a primetime show it's going to be only one out of every 100 actors. Meanwhile, half the big name Australian actors I look up have Neighbors as a credit.

I think its similar to Coronation Street in the UK. Everyone whos anyone winds up in there sooner or later.
