Mimics a controller analog stick so you can control movement speed with how far you press the key. Gimmicky? Maybe. Might be interesting for competitive FPS games where footstep noise is a big factor.

Should be here Monday

That wooting hall effect board is the latest gaming keyboard gimmick.

I have one of those analog boards, but honestly never really used it. Seemed too annoying and not really worth it. Hope you enjoy it, though.

Yeah, it's the Wooting 60HE that I ordered.

Date has now changed to July 31-August 1 so maybe not til Tuesday. Or even later :(

Oh, you got the HE. Good board, actually. I was thinking of their older optical boards when you said analogue, but this hall effect one is actually analogue too, so oops.

I recommend getting a metal case for it since it can fit in a bunch of standard 60% keyboard cases. Also, to lube the sliders of the switch a bit to make it feel/sound a bit better. There's also custom plates out there if you don't like the standard rigid steel one. POM is personally my favorite switch plate material.

Yep, we'll see how it actually works next week.

It actually shipped and date has now changed back to just July 31 so should be here Monday.

I love the concept, but my concern is what games support it. Effectively you need a game that supports simultaneous kb/m and controller support. And in the games that do support it they often change the button icons and/or the UI whenever you alternate between the two.

It's been years since I've looked into it though. Have any of these issues been addressed?

Yeah it looks like that's still the case for some games like Siege which is one I was looking forward to using for this. Others like Call of Duty allow keyboard and controller, it's just the look mechanic that's tied to one input. Though I'm not sure what the UI does in that case.

Still the customizable actuation points and whatnot will be beneficial for everything, it's just the analog stick like movement won't work in a lot of games.
