It says I've put in 14 hours of playtime but if you count all the restarts from my own errors and glitches from the game then I'd say it's much more than that. I played using OpenMorrowind. I just beat Dagon Ur and have not started the Expansions yet.

I've joined all factions and became faction leaders for all except Redoran, Telvanni and Fighters' Guild. You can only join one great house and I picked Hlaalu. I didn't join Fighters' Guild because they're corrupt and working for the Camonna Tong which is the enemy of the Thieves Guild so fuck them.

Mods I used are 100% Night Eye all the time, rich merchants and max weight.

I started as a Dunmer Thief. Stole a bunch of stuff and got myself rich as fuck, fast as fuck to break the game. Created Constant Effect rings to regenerate Fatigue and Health and the game became a cake walk. Yes I used Boots of Blinding Speed.

Shit I didn't like

• The game has not aged well and initially very badly designed.
• NPCs give out terrible advice and directions.
• The game would have greatly improved with a map marker.
• It's unfortunate that the game starts you out super incredibly weak and the only way to thrive is to break the game or grind like crazy on mudcrabs and rats for hours and hours to get stronger
• Vivic is a stupid design of a city. Horrible to get around and dumb of them to make it a maze. Getting around the damn city was not fun. Only after you memorize the shit that it becomes bearable.
• Games like these forces you to make millions of copies of saves to optimize your growth. It was pretty ridic

I'll post more as things come to mind. Overall even with all its flaws, the mods and breaking the game made the game more bearable.

Big shout to https://en.uesp.net/. Without their guidance and map I would have stopped playing this game.

I played it through for the first time in 2018 and, quite surprisingly, I ended up loving it despite its flaws (I'd tried to play it on PC a couple times before that, but couldn't get more than a couple hours into it; when it released on XBL I decided to finally buckle down and give it a fair chance).

Biggest hurdle in the learning curve was figuring out that weapon accuracy is directly influenced by available stamina, i.e. never go into a fight tired. I also don't think I could suffer the entire game without the Boots of Blinding Speed (plus self-created resist magic spell to bypass blindness).

I still for the life of me cannot see how Cliff Racers became so legendarily hated. At worst they're mildly annoying when they hover out of range for a full minute and I don't feel like getting out a spell / bow to deal with them (because you just know they're going to swoop down on you the instant you turn your back and start walking away).

Once I made my CE Stamina ring I didn't have to worry about missing or fighting anymore. I dunno how you dealt with the horrible loading speeds from console and the unfixable glitches without console command.

I never had to grind mudcrabs. skill issue.

The big thing is that Morrowind blessedly has no per-level cap on training. That's where the majority of my fortune goes every time I play. But even with that aside, I never felt that leveling weapon skills felt particularly grindy as long as you travel on foot when reasonable and don't avoid enemies (magic and non-combat skills are ridiculously grindy to level w/out training, however).

i mean tbh what do you expect trying to kill Dagoth Greg and the crew without actually playing any of the game first. of course you gotta either cheese it or level up

My blunt weapon skills was around 60 and I literally cleared out a dungeon and killing everything along the way and my progression skill until next level up went by like 40/100. I guess that's not grind to you guys but it is to me.

I don't really remember but it wasn't a challenging game so I wasn't focused on leveling things up

One of the game's hidden mechanics that most people don't know about is that playing with a chip on your shoulder reduces weapon skill increases by 50%.

You should be uploading how great you are onto YT.

I did like being able to steal anything and everything and being able to sell it to anyone else.

Stat growth at level up barely even matter, you can put zero thought into it at all and still end up overpowered. It's not like Oblivion.

I've never seen so many wrong opinions on a game in one topic. Its actually kind of impressive.

Curses and diseases in this game can quickly make you want to quit this game. The game heavily punishes you for not over-preparing you for going into the dungeons next to Seyda Neen, the starting town.

Lmao. Addamasartus is child's play. Bunch of level 2 NPC's.

If you're struggling with buddy's weakness to common disease spell maybe Morrowind isn't for you.

Diseases are fine, Drain Attribute is fine, but Damage Attribute is tediously redundant. I typically don't like to break a game to the point where all challenge is removed, but one of my primary motivators to play as Bretons in Oblivion was to eventually get a Mundane Ring and be immune to magic solely because I would no longer have to waste time fixing damaged attributes.

Try Andrano Ancestral Tomb and get wrecked when the Bonewalker drains your strength. But hey man I'm glad this game is an ezpeazy cake walk for you. We need more people like you to spread the gospel on how incredibly casual this game is.

See there's a pretty simple fix if you get your stats drained. Either bring potions with you, or go to a shrine. Hell Pelagiad is literally across from Andrano.

Ah yes you're the expert. Now where would you get a Potion to Restore Strength this early in the game? Arrille's Tradehouse don't sell any. And yes we could walk to Pelagiad but assuming we got hit with the strength curse, we'd have to drop a ton of shit we're carrying to be able to run normally to heal ourselves and then run all the way back to get our items from we dropped at Andrano. Sounds like a chore that can cause casuals to quit this game? I'd say so.

Mark and Recall are your friend.

Fanboys have become so numb to the flaws of this game that they're unable to see what it looks like from a beginner's point of view. And because they've become numb to the game they think this game is now a cake walk and doesn't feel like a chore. Hey, just because you became familiar with getting to the Morag Tong's headquarters in Vivec under the Arena in the Storage Area doesn't mean it doesn't suck balls to keep manually going back and forth.

I'll never deny that Morrowind is a tough game, especially later on in the MQ and in the expansions, but the stuff your mentioning like the dungeon by Seyda Neen and Andrano is literally early game content.

If you're struggling with those even with the CE rings you mentioned, then the expansions will chew you up and spit you out.

I'd now be interested in seeing Fake Vegy makes a New Vegas first-time playthrough topic. "Damn Cazadores and Deathclaws keeping me from getting to New Vegas, this is bullshit! Think of all the casual players that'll quit the game because of this!"

Bro apparently had a hard time with Addamasartus, the literal beginner dungeon.

Doubt he'd even get to the Cazadores in NV, he'd probably get slapped helping Sunny Smiles with the geckos during the tutorial.

Re-read some of my posts. I beat this game already via knowing how to break this game and I know shit from my own experience. I was merely pointing out shit from a beginner's point of view that could chase people away. The early game is the toughest especially if you dunno shit. Mid to late game is actually easier since you're adapt to the game's crappy mechanics and you have the gold, skills and items to progress equally.

This isn't my first time attempt at Morrowind. This is like my 20th something try and finally with the right mods and QoL add-ons I was able to finish it. Talk about being Passive Aggression, though. LOL. I know what the issue here is: Yall just mad I'm shitting on your favorite game.

Nobody's mad.

Again I could understand if this topic was titled "Morrowind is kicking my ass".

Instead it's you freaking out about how you had to mod the game to complete it, and how basic game mechanics are too hard or tedious for you to deal with, and how hard 2/3 earliest dungeons in the game are without said mods.

Once more, maybe Morrowind just isn't for you.
