I beat the first Ratchet and Clank game yesterday, and started on Going Commando. I like it better than the first game. I like the RPG elements and focus on puzzles.

It's probably the best of the PS2 games.

I still think it's the best one of the original trilogy.

it my fave ratchet and clank cuz it has the most content and the weapons peaked w/ it too.

tbh all the ps2 ratchets have mixed together for me. I enjoyed playing them when they came out but I couldnt distinguish one from the other

i wish the ps2 games can be ported over to pc either officially or unofficially (jak games have unofficial ports at least the 1st game and 2nd game should be completed in a few months).

i know the ratchet ps2 games are technically playable on pc but the input lag is horrendous

also the ps3 versions of the games have fucked up audio. soundtracks are stuck on mono for the 2nd, 3rd, and probably the 4th game. ps2 version had them stereo.

GC is the best R&C game. Just straight-up.

In UYA, they started buying into their own hype about the series being about fun weapons and they forget that they're actually an action platformer, so the levels aren't as fleshed out with some literally just being multiplayer maps with multiplayer-type objectives.

The weapons still feel creative and fresh and leveling them is actually fun. Tools of Destruction started the trend of each weapon having an upgrade grid which is...fine. But they also drastically reduced the impact leveling had on a weapon. The visuals don't change much and their effects don't have as much impact.

The story isn't full-on Pixar made-for-kids like it was starting with ToD either. Ratchet and Clank feel like real people that have conversations, not just, "Oh, buddy, you're my bestest best friend and our friendship means we'll defeat Dr. Nefarious."

((It also doesn't have Dr. Nefarious which is another plus, IMO. I don't know why Insomniac loves that dude so much.))

Has any one here played any Ratchet and Clank games on the Vita? I've been wanting to get into the series but I don't know how they translate to a handheld. Especially because Vita doesn't have an L2 or R2 button (you can assign them to the touchpad), so if those are often needed it can make for a worse experience vs a controller that has those.

One of the best examples of a sequel in video games, took everything that made the first game good and just made it even better while adding a bunch of new things that improved the whole series.

No love for Deadlocked?

Favorite iteration of the RYNO.

The PS2 Ratchet and Clank games so good! I liked all of the games including Deadlocked.

Going Commando is a great game. The only part that I really dislike are the giant clank sections.

Handy tip: The best way to upgrade the Shield Barrier is by reducing a strong enemy's health close to zero by conventional means, then dealing the killing blow by brushing against them with the shield.
