While the episode itself wasn't one of their strongest episodes ever, the writing is good, performances are on point, and it just FEELS like Futurama.

Yeah I saw a topic saying it was terrible. But I thought it was pretty good

Like someone else mentioned in another topic it took comedy central a few episodes to find their stride. I thought the episode was a bit weak but still Futurama so it's great it's back. Hopefully they get some classics in.

yeah. Some other topic was saying it was bad but I liked it.

No. Everyone sounded as they should. Fry was a bit slightly different but the guy is 71, he's going to sound older

EDIT: Well someone else said this but I'm not deleting it dammit

the only voices i thought sounded off also only had one line in the episode, The Robot Devil, Linda, and maybe Nixon. the others might have just had more time to practice before the final take. i'm guessing things will be mostly fine after a few episodes.

and, even if not, the voices changing a bit is not anywhere near an actual problem.

I enjoyed it. Nothing earth shattering but it was fun to have it back on tv again. Looking forward to the rest of the season

Yeah, the voices may have been off (understandable because everybody is like 10 years older) but it "felt" just like regular Futurama

the topic title said it was bad and the TC said it was bad, but there were like 60+ posts most of which were in support. so at a glance from the topic title and post count, it did seem like it would be so bad that it spun up all those posts. i thought the same thing. just saw the topic title and post count so i thought, man, sad that this sucks. but watched it the other night and was fine with it

I did see a lot of complaints before I watched it but it made me laugh out loud a good few times and really doesn't feel like they missed a step so I'm looking forward to more.

Just watched the first episode, the non-binary joke fucking killed me. It was too funny.

I could never muster interest to watch Futurama past the initial 4 season run.

Look, I understand this take, but they leaned in heavily to the being canceled bit. If they leave that alone after this episode, I feel it can be good. The writing was spot on, so I'm hoping they don't beat a dead horse.

Im just praying they dont break them up again.

I like that they are following up older episodes. I doubt when "Kif Gets Knocked up" that the writers or crew thought the show would have new episodes twenty years later but I'm glad they remembered that line.

(future speculation / possible spoilers) according to the list of titles, we're probably getting another one this season, and maybe two more in the second set of episodes. Including two commonly top 10 episodes. i'm very excited, especially after this week's went so well.

And the whole "20 years earlier" thing worked cause the original episode was 20 years ago. Always nice when that works out!

Episode 2 is awesome!

The second ep felt like a true return to form kind of thing. Felt really in line with the old eps. I enjoyed the first ep too but now I have a pretty good feeling for the rest of the season

killed me.

The 2nd episode was much better than the first.

Though this is the first time I really noticed a change in a voice. Amy's father sounded way different to me

That's because there has been a shift in recent years where they want a minority character in animation voiced by that minority. So Leo Wong was recast. He's now voiced by Feodor Chin instead of Billy West.

That's funny, cause I had no idea he was recast. Perhaps I just didn't pay attention.

Been enjoying it. Ill admit Im not a super fan (Im definitely more of a Simpsons guy, and I never even watched Futurama until like 2013) but I do like the show, and the new episodes have been fine. I thought the Comedy Central run was fine too.

I think it's more noticeable when you compare the first and second episode. The first episode felt a lot like the CC run, where it was very rapid, shallow jokes moving at the speed of light. It felt like a mile a minute, with everyone being stupid or weird and zany and flanderized. The second episode was much slower, with a small set up then leans into its main premise. It's slower paced, extends a story from a far earlier season, and just overall feels much more thought out and deliberate.
