The thing about DeSantis or anyone the GOP establishment wants to push besides Trump is that they have just as poor of a grasp as to why Trump is so appealing as anyone else. It feels like politically engaged people just refuse to accept how much Trump's propped up by his alleged credibility as a celebrity businessman because I guess it feels like it's too simple. Of course he still needed to be saying what the right wants to hear in the language they like with said alleged credibility, but his pre-campaign persona is still the foundation everything is built on top of.

Yeah they're in a bit of a funny situation. A politician trying to be like Trump isn't gonna be as effective because his followers were under the impression that Trump isn't a politician and that he would change things.

The inevitable replacement for Trump is probably gonna be some shitty Fox News host or something. Thank goodness Elon Musk can't do it. That's the kind of guy that audience wants.

Watching the GOP continue to flounder figuring out how to counter Trump is amusing but there's gonna be another disaster from it eventually.

He really shot himself in the dick trying to initially base his campaign on "I want to turn America into fascist Florida!" and not switching to, "Actually, fuck Florida, it's all about these fine Iowans! Please make sure I win the Iowa caucus, Iowans!"

His laughable handling of Trump has been quite the treat.

The far more offensive thing is the almost 10m people who didn't vote for Trump in 2016 and then after 4 years of him as POTUS, to include the shitshow that 2020 was, somehow wanted more of that.

Like, damn, imagine somehow not being a Donald Dick Sucker and then being roped in after getting to see who he really is.

He faceplanted directly out of the gate with that catastrophe of a Twitter hangout with Elon Musk, and it did not improve from there.

Imagine if he just focused on governing Florida, pretended to be magnanimous by ceding 2024 to Trump, then had two whole years post-governorship to run his 2028 campaign as a fresh entrant.

Thank god DeSatan is stupid.

EDIT: Also, DeSatan is just an awful choice for all the establishment anti-Trump donors. Because he's not anti-Trump, he's Great Value Brand Trump. They need an actual business-friendly centrist that's charismatic, which DeSatan categorically is not.
