Breath of fire dragon quarter is another one for me. I.......did not like this one coming off of breath of fire 4's fun gameplay and interesting two sides story.

Making the series' trademark dragon transformation a thing you are NOT supposed to do is one of the dumbest ideas they had for the series.

No more heroes 3 is the most recent one for me

Look at the first few trailers and then play the game. Or better yet, don't. The game is ultra mega ass

Metroid Other M and it's not even close. NOTHING inspires the level of rage as what they did to Samus in that game and don't get me started on the deliberately gimped Wii controls..

Fuck, that's a good (aka bad) one.

It blows my mind that No More Heroes 1 is STILL the best in the series. 3 dropped the ball so hard with a lot of things. I still had some fun but man, idk what happened with it.

As soon as I saw they'd swapped assassins out for generic aliens I lost interest.

I do love using "This character design belongs in No More Heroes 3" as an put-down though.

In recent memory? NMH3 and Bayonetta 3.

I generally do enough research before buying games that I know what I'm getting. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was definitely a bit of a disappointment, but one I expected before playing the game after reading early impressions. It was still decent, just rougher than I'd like in virtually every area after the previous games. Same thing with Bayonetta 3, where I heard it was a big decline before getting it, tried it anyway, and found it had some good stuff in it but was weighed down by absolutely trash story and enemy design.

I'm really having a hard time thinking of a time I was blindsided by a game's quality to the point I'd call it a disappointment, though.

I'm pretty sure Dead Rising 2 has an infinite mode you can unlock. That allows you to play the game without a timer and any objectives.

That is what I remember too. The timer just made me hate the main campaign, which for me turned into a slog.

GTA IV. The physics were great but that's about it. It's a huge downgrade from GTA San Andreas

Really curious about Xenoblade Chronicles 3, what was it that disapointed you in comparison to the first two games? I only heard more positive reception on how it improved from the previous games.

But 100% on Bayonetta 3. I was surprise there wasn't more outrage on the story, but then I figured it was because no one played it lol.

Final Fantasy 12, and Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.

For FF12, I've said it many times that I wasn't a fan of the battle system, but beyond that, my main issue was the story. The story was very poorly told. MGS5s issue is that its just big for the sake of being big. I would have liked it to be a combination of Metal Gear Solid and Assassins Creed. Where you have a big city, but the story can take you outside the city when it needs to. Having it more like Ground Zeroes would be a start.

Another game that disappointed me was Dead Rising 2, especially after the demo for Code Zero, which was a very interesting take on the Dead Rising series. Instead of taking place in a mall, it took place in a small western town in the middle of nowhere. I really really liked that idea.

Mortal Kombat X, No Mans Sky, Candy Crush, Ark: Survival Evolved, Jedi Fallen Order, all of the final fantasy games, most games on the Nintendo Switch, Tic Tac Toe (not a video game), AvP 2010, Counterstrike, League of Legends, Fortnite

Cant wait to play GTA VI, will play online from day 1 and probably skip story mode

Also Dissidia NT. I was so excited to finally get a console DIssidia game so I could finally play the franchise.

I was enjoying it until chapter 4 or so, and after that, you can tell its development was rushed. It felt like the story was about to take off, and then it was expedited to be like "let's wrap this up", then it was over.

Like, Xenogears disc 2 levels of rushing towards the end.

Carmageddon for the PS1. I thought it would be like the PC version. Or at least be a decent port of it.
But it was less than half as good. Bad graphics, bad sound, boring and tiny maps, bad physics, powerups lasted for ten seconds, had zombies instead of humans...
It was so bad, I can't even remember if I had it for a week or only two days.

Form a more modern era, Mercenaries on the OG Xbox was great and fun, so I thought the second game on the newer console would be just as good, fi not better.
Suffice to say, it sucked hard.

Eternal Darkness: Sanitys Requiem. Grueling 3X play through for a bonus 30 second special ending.

Fallout 4 for me. That along with ME andromeda and other disappointing games is what made me drop modern video games.

Oh right Dark Souls 2 exists too doesn't it.

I admit kind of had fun being bewildered and caught off guard by all the things they'd apparently forgotten about making games before I discovered it was made by the From Software's in-house dodgeball team.
Would have been nice to have another game like DS1 and DeS though.

To be fair I haven't really gotten into video games since the GameCube era, and basically missed the entire Xbox generation.

Girlfriend let me borrow her X360(I think) to try it. I got maybe an hour in before giving up in boredom. I also tried the Halo campaign for the first time - maybe half an hour.

It would have to be fucking destiny games. So boring.

I was younger when it was originally released, and it was actually the game that caused me to be more critical about reviews and scores, because its absolutely not something id consider a 93/100

Kingdom Heart 3 still holds that crown. Even with lowered expectations still felt like a let down.

Also, Brutal Legend. It was almost as egregious as Fable 1 was for false advertisement, and managed to have even less content than that one (made worse by how open and large the world was).

I actually dont lol. I was 11 when it came out and at that point thought a 10/10 from ign was the word of god lmaoo

it's either the gbc port of crystalis (how do you fuck it up that bad?) or honestly, dark souls 3.

i'm pvp-oriented in the souls games and ds3 is a fucking mess. like, if i don't have an inventory set up to swap stuff around (weapons and rings) and if i'm not willing to abuse glitches (or more importantly, grand merchant), i'm tying a hand behind my back. i don't like that.

i would say that the weapon art system set the next game in the souls series (and maybe beyond) on a bad-balance trajectory. i have 30 copies of the same weapon because of it.

Sonic 06. The only good thing to come out of it is the main theme.

Well, the memes, but that isn't to the games credit.

FF Tactics. People hype it up and as a FF fan I'm stun locked by how bad it is every time I give it another chance. It's not for me.

Hard for me to pick just 1, so I have a few.

- Mass Effect Andromeda: Didn't care for the characters, and even though I did enjoy Dragon Age: inquisition, I didn't want to have play DA:I in space. The story also didn't get my interest unlike the original trilogy did. And of course the awful animations.

- Fable 1. I was one of many that bought in Peter Molyneaux's lies and got hyped up for a game that I thought would compete with Morrowind. Only to get what essentially felt like a thin shell of what was promised. 2 and 3 ended up being even worse game, but I had such low expectations for them after Fable 1 that they didn't end up being disappointing.

- The last Gauntlet game before that developer went under. Mainly due to it only taking like an hour and a half to beat when the one before it (Dark Legacy IIRC) was significantly longer.

Dragon Age 2. Origins was 10 times better.

Fire Emblem 3 Houses

Loved every previous FE entry, and considered it my favorite active RPG series until this trash came out. FE: Engage was a lot better but didnt fully rase the stench of 3H.

Also, Dragon Age 2 is great, people just dont like it because its so different than the original.

I've also got to add Death Stranding.

after MGS2, you'd always hear these stories about how Kojima was forced to continue the series, even though he wanted to put it to rest; so, I thought with Death Stranding, we would finally see something that Kojima REALLY wanted to make, with all of the creative freedom he wanted.

turns out that it was one of the most boring, poorly written games that I would ever play through.

I like Kojima and his passion for creating, but I'll most likely pass on any future project he puts out from now on.

The Outbound Ghost. It was fun and had a lot of potential. But it was repetitive. The story, while interesting, ultimately didn't satisfy. Plots went unfinished, and the ending was abrupt with no resolution.
