This may be already known, but I haven't seen it mentioned in any list of glitches that I've seen.

Select a potion so that you have the option to use or discard it. Then save and quit. The next time you load a file, you will still have the option to either use or discard the potion I that slot - whether you actually have one or not.

The best benefit of this is to have one save file with an Entropic Brew, and switch over to a different save file, and drink the phantom potion to immediately get three free potions. You could also do the glitch at a shop that's selling an Entropic Brew or when you get it as a combat reward; get the potion, perform the glitch, and drink it when you reload the game.

If you don't want to switch save files then its main use is with Entropic Brew, as I said. Use the potion to get free potions, then restart and use a potion you don't even have.

It's pretty useful in shops too. If a shop has a potion that can be used outside of combat (like ones that heal or increase HP), buy the potion, use the glitch, and restart to use it for free.

If I'm gonna go through that much trouble to exploit the game I'm just gonna use mods tbh

It's on several platforms that don't allow mods. And you could use both mods and glitches.

yeah I don't even want to think about what that entails but its not RTS

The only real caveat is that if you do have a potion in the slot that originally held the phantom potion, it will disappear once you drink it.

Honestly, triggering the glitch is so simple, I'm pretty surprised that no one has ever done it by accident before now.

The one where you can get multiple relics after a boss battle? AFAIK that one only works on Switch, and it's as simple as rapidly pressing the Confirm button. It also doesn't work for certain relics (like the ones that replace your starting relic). There's a limited window of time to do it though, so even with a turbo controller I've never gotten more than ten.

And as someone pointed out, you can make one save file that's holding a Fruit Juice, and then keep on using that potion over and over again for crazy high max HP.
