Tracked down Sabin, Edgar, and Setzer. Celes is the true main character of this game now.

Found Terra but she's not tryna be about it.

I too accidentally let Shadow die my first time. Had to restart the game because of that.

Just bought the remaster recently but haven't started it yet. FF6 is by far my favorite in the series. I hope it still holds up after all these years.

Kaien got possessed by ghosts so we had to go into his dreams to save him. What a wacky side story lol

I liked it a lot, but it went on for so long and the bosses were frustrating.

You can read these spoilers, TC, youve already done these parts. Just wanted to say that on our first playthroughs, like 90% of us didnt save Shadow, nor were we able to keep Cid alive.

I know that youre still going about the world of ruin, trying to reassemble your whole cast, but just curious - who are your 4 favorite party members to use in battle so far?

I think this whole side quest was my least favorite part of the game.

Probably Terra, Celes, Sabin, and Kaien.

Haven't really used the feral kid, the old man, or the painter girl.

Went to the Phoenix Cave and reunited with Locke. The whole Rachel thing is pretty creepy.

Feels like it wants me to go to the end, but I still haven't found Strago. Haven't picked up any clues from NPCs on where he might be, so I'll probably go into that tomorrow. Got back from my friend's birthday so I'm too lit to scrounge around the world for clues right now;.

You shouldn't have to get too fanatical about finding him, not like he towers over anyone else in the cast in terms of usability.

Yeah, I wasn't going to add him to my party or anything, but I'd like to have everyone back together either way. Feels bad to leave someone out, even if he was barely a part of the gang in the first place.

He's a pretty good mage honestly.

Phoenix Cave is one of my favorite parts of the game. Controlling multiple parties is so much fun in FF6.

Just level grinding now.
I've defeated 3 dragons, and gave up on Magic Master(?) in the tall tower.

A Moogle and Yeti just randomly joined my gang. That's something.

And I got Ultima, so that's even better.

Yeti is pretty good if you have the Rage Ring.

Wait... you didn't get Mog during the World of Balance?

Be sure to check the wall behind where you found Mog. You get a relic that gives no encounters.

You can turn off encounters normally in this version by clicking R3, so I dunno if that relic is really required haha

Prior to the Floating Continent, before the world changed.

Just after first getting the Blackjack airship, you can return to Narshe and go to the locked warehouse at the east end of town.

The thief Lone Wolf will be there and he'll make off with some treasures. You can chase him all the way to the cliffs where the frozen Esper is and he'll hold a Moogle hostage. They'll both end up hanging from the ledge and you need to pick Mog to have him join.

Go back there and bang your head against the wall until you win. The reward is worth it.

I agree completely. Kefka's Tower is possibly my all-time favorite final dungeon largely because of this.

I really wish they hadn't half-assed this for those brief segments in FF7 and FF8, because neither of those games were built around this mechanic.

Also, I would recommend heading back to Figaro Castle and take it for a ride underground.

6 is an amazing game all around, and honestly makes me wish they would revisit these days where it was the larger party and had those more humorous side moments.

Also, sorry, but SNES opera the whole way, it dont sound right to me with clear lyrics. Also doesnt help I have the soundtrack on my phone that always play every now and then.

Was going to do that today. I saw there was a trophy for Edgar that I figured I'd need to go back there to get.

Did the Ancient Temple and got Odin/Raiden.
Beat the Magic Master. Barely survived with 1 character only having like 100HP after Master's last desperation move.

Started Kefka's Tower. Still enjoy the switching between multiple parties mechanic, though I put all my strongest characters in the main team, so the 3rd team is 4 people I've never played with and don't have great spells. I knew what I was doing as I was doing it, but still lol.

I'm basically just Ultima spamming at this point with teams 1 and 2.

You could end up getting in trouble with unbalancing your teams in Kefka's Tower; one team has to face more bosses than the others, but the team that faces the least number of bosses also has to face what's arguably the game's toughest regular boss. There's also a point later in the dungeon where a multi-party puzzle can end up switching things around for you party-wise.

The game's not particularly tough overall, but on the other hand it's one of the few games in the franchise that incentivizes you to keep all possible party members combat-ready. Granted, I too always fall into the trap of overleveling my favorite characters (Usually Terra, Sabin, Locke, and Celes), but I always try to go into Kefka's Tower with every party member with at least 2,500-3,000 HP, and spread my key fighters over the 3 parties.

Also, I'm assuming you're foregoing completionism this run, but one of the bosses in Kefka's Tower has a unique Lore that can only be learned in that fight; the best way to ensure you don't miss this is to put Strago in Party #1.

I remember my first time doing Kefka's Tower with only nine characters (one party is Mog with the Moogle Charm) and I'd just avoid bosses as best I could with Mog and when I couldn't progress anymore, leave, switch up the parties, then go back down to clean out the rest lol.

It sounds like you're almost at the end. There are a few places to level up that give good XP if you want to grind your less used members. My last playthrough I got everyone to know every spell and have them all around level 95.

For EXP grinding you want to go to the dinosaur forest. To get AP you want to fight Cactuars with things that are a guaranteed hit like the Drill (IIRC.)

I got 4 or 5 of them grinding all my characters to 95ish. It really is a rare drop. Called the Celestriad in this version.

Yeah, you gotta be really lucky or really devoted to get an Economizer drop. I just looked up the stats and the Brachiosaur is a 1/16 encounter, with a 1/8 chance to drop one (I always thought it was 1/4 chance).

When I was a kid I didn't really see the value in the Gem Box (Thamasa Soul) for some reason, so I'd always trade it for an Economizer (Celestriad) at the Coliseum first chance I got, lol.

It's a drop, just a rare one. Getting my first drop was one of my more distinct gaming memories as a kid; it was maybe the 4th or 5th Brachosaur I'd successfully beaten after getting repeatedly trounced by them, and I lucked into both stealing a Ribbon and getting an Economizer drop in the same fight. I was so damn pumped to see 'Got Economizer x1' pop up in the victory info that I literally jumped to my feet and started cheering; to me that was the godliest of all relics, and up to that point I thought the only way to get one was by betting the Gem Box at the Coliseum.

Just beat the game. Great ending.
Def in my top 3 FFs for sure.

It's funny coming into this straight off FF16, because there are a lot of similar beats at the end, but every complaint I had with 16's ending is pretty much showcased in 6's ending but done in the way I actually would've preferred. Really enjoyed that.

The way it wraps up the story in such an artful way and gives every character their little spotlight (not to mention the seamless blending of their individual music themes into one grand medley) is just something that even the best of the rest of the franchise can't match.

Not-so-fun-fact: one of my biggest pet peeves with the PSX and GBA versions of this game is that the musical medley gradually falls out of sync with the vignettes; so by the time you get to Shadow's vignette, Relm's theme is still playing through half of it. Thankfully, I've been told that the PR finally fixes this back to the way it was meant to be, and I can say without hyperbole that this is a major selling point towards me buying it.

Even without nostalgia, I can say that it's one of the best endings to a video game I can think of in recent memory.

Part of it is definitely that I hated 15 and 16's endings so much, that 6's happy and optimistic ending was a breath of fresh air, and definitely something that I needed.

But even beyond comparing it to other FFs, it's just a good ending. Honestly not much I can even complain about with it.

If a breath of fresh air is what you're looking for, I suggest playing Breath of Fire 5.

Celes and Locke's themes overlapping and Relm's preceding Shadow's are particularly nice touches. VI's remains my favorite video game OST to this day.

Shadow's remake theme is pretty awesome, probably my favorite remaster song.
