The new standards require instruction for middle school students to include how slaves developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit, a document listing the standards and posted in the Florida Department of Education website said.

When high school students learn about events such as the 1920 Ocoee massacre, the new rules require that instruction include acts of violence perpetrated against and by African Americans. The massacre is considered the deadliest Election Day violence in US history and, according to several histories of the incident, it started when Moses Norman, a prominent Black landowner in the Ocoee, Florida, community, attempted to cast his ballot and was turned away by White poll workers.

this is explicitly playing into the hallucination that slave-owners were the benevolent caretakers of the south and all it's people.

it's necessary for their myth because otherwise how can you justify having jefferson, washington, etc on the money. You can't, unless there is the myth of the benevolent slave-owner.

"There was no need for a war. I was going to set the slaves free as soon as my father died."

Yes, you were going to abandon your primary source of income and labor as soon as your father keeled over. And another fifteen to twenty years or so is all they would have had to have suffered through. And all of the other slave captors felt exactly as you did too. It truly was an unnecessary war of aggression.

Florida Teacher: The Holocaust is just one theory, maybe the Jews enjoyed having their own places to live and work, and getting cool number tattoos probably helped them stay organized. Plus the Nazis made the trains run on time, it's says in the text book a lots of Jews rode the trains to Auschwitz everyday.

I cringe at the thought that this could be a reality in my lifetime.

Sadly we kind of knew this is the direction they wanted to go after all of the complaints about schools making their kids "feel ashamed of being white." I really wish the federal government could step in and stop all of these bullshit changes Florida has been making.

Well, in an official setting (seemed like some sort of Congressional hearing setting?) Candace Owens did say that the only thing Hitler did wrong was take his policies & views outside of Germany, so it's not as ridiculous for them to propose as you may think.

We try to think of what would be too far for these reactionary fundamentalist people, but eventually they will try pushing a curriculum of: "why child brides learn better home making skills and can better please their adult arranged marriage husbands"

But that is coming.
