Got 'em

Day 3 of troubleshooting this same problem. I started a packet capture on the switch port that the problem device is connected to at JUST the right time and saw that the problem is due to a certificate error.

Now they're saying this same issue happened in the lab and they don't know why it's throwing certificate errors only at certain times.

lol that reminds me of an issue I saw. Only one of our customers was getting certificate errors with our site, out of thousands. And it only happened at certain times.

Turned out that he commuted with his work laptop, and at work, the laptop's clock would sync with his domain controller's clock, which was wildly off. So far off it was out of range of the certificate's valid period.

They were still having issues today and wanted to move the device to a new network port...

Like... on one hand, networking being such a complex topic is why I have a job, but today I almost want to stop the whole call and give a 15 minute lesson on the OSI model
