it really depends, it does have a lot of options for expats given its quality of life, though.

It's not like a poor country where you can n be some scrub with a few grand to blow and live like a king. you'd have to really get into the nuances of the culture and language and even then you'll always be an outsider in many ways. that said, it's all right if you can find a groove and like the culture where you are.

there are those abandoned houses which you can buy for tens of thousands of dollars if you're all right living alone in a remote area. then there's middle class life in medium sized towns, charming but with small town social obstacles. if you're rich, you can live in a city. I wouldn't want to have a job based in Japan with a Japanese company. they'll work you to death and expect you to lap up every bit of crap they give you.

I disagree. And their justice system is kinda scary too. You can get serious long punishments for extremely minor stuff. Theyre like 40-50 years behind it. Punishments for foreigners is also scary

TBF, the pedophilic Mangaka was also really rich and probably had a lot of resources give him a slap on the wrist. Still doesn't change the fact that Japan punishes harsher for drug use (like MJ) than CP.

Nah.
Punishment for foreigners is actually lighter in Japan because they want to avoid international incidents. As for what's considered minor or serious crime, that's different based on culture. Drug crimes in general, for example, are treated much more seriously in Asian nations as a whole than the US (or Europe). They tend to point to the US crime rate as an example of what happens when drugs aren't treated as a serious problem. Or if a nation fails to stop the spread of the use.

Anyways, topics like this is sort of pointless.

Yeah, there are object measures (like, say, life expectancy or health / education access).
But there are subjective measures (like food, cultural values, etc etc) that are different from a person to person.
