100 year time skip I'm probably screwed in other ways. But I've never given much of a damn about sports on general so I'd largely be unaffected by that aspect. Considering the large amount of brain damage that tends to come from American football, I wouldn't be sad to see it fade away even outside of entertainment based concerns.

No, not really. Football and baseball are perfect because you have time between plays to talk with friends, grab snacks, etc.

If I'm forced to watch sports, I prefer the ones with constant breaks.

I can't suffer how viable flopping has become as a way of gaining ball control. You somehow get that out of the sport then sure but I think it's too entrenched in the way people play the game.

I was a soccer ref as a teen and the sport's official rulebook is very small so there's a lot of wiggle room for players to exploit them to flop.

It would be nice but for people that like soccer there are so many ways to enjoy it already. I can watch the Spurs play every weekend so long as I have the time.

People can like whatever they like and it doesnt make one thing less legit than another.

Im a citizen of North America so hockey and baseball are kinda my go to sports. I still havent got into soccer. The Lions are either about to blow up or crash and burn but I will be watching closely this year.

Soccer cannot become the dominant sport in the US because it is too low scoring. Americans like points and lots of them. They don't want a game that can end with a score of 2-1.

If you wanted soccer to become dominant in the US, you'd have to make each goal worth 6 points. Even then, the rules would need to be amended so that, after making a goal, the scoring player could make an additional point if he or she is able to kick the ball past the goalie one on one.

This is the right idea. Make the pitch smaller, fewer players on the field, get a real clock and timing system, penalize flopping, and eliminate shoot-outs (I like the idea of overtime where every minute, another player is forced to leave the field until it's something like a 3 on 3 until someone scores).

Soccer as it is is bone-crushingly boring if you're not invested in the culture. Its worldwide popularity is no doubt a reflection of its accessibility.

A lot of the rationale for why X or y sport is popular in a given country is just ad hoc, trying to backfill reasoning where there's just history.

Like, is cricket popular in Jamaica and baseball in the Dominican Republic because of something innate to those cultures? No, it's just a reflection of UK vs US influence
