You never know... turns out Vin Diesel is an actual Sci-Fi and tabletop RPG geek.

I love this man. He's one of those truly passionate actors who are so rare to find. Someone who sincerely cares about the characters he embodies and the worlds they live in. If he has a good amount of creative control in this project, I think it will be legendary.

He's executive producer, so he's got about as much creative control as a single person can have for a project like this.

For the first time in a long time, I'm going to put my faith in an actor when they say something like this. 99% of the time it is just lip service for the sheep, but I trust Cavill. Please, God, let this be the one time I'm not disappointed.

i don't trust GW not to meddle this into mediocrity.

It's a tabletop game with very extensive lore and world building. Tons of books and games exist if you want to learn more. I've never gone into it, myself, but it has a lot of passionate fans.

Tabletop models, but the game has a MASSIVE amount of lore, one of the more in depth sci fi worlds out there.

Warhammer is huge in nerd culture. They've pumped out tons of books and games, and the miniatures sell well. There's for sure an audience out there.

Plus, even if you've never heard of it, a good trailer for an epic sci-fi series will catch attention. The Halo series could have been huge if it didn't suck.

Starcraft was supposed to be a Warhammer 40K game, but Games Workshop (owners of 40K) messed things up somehow, so Starcraft ended up being a "rip-off" of it.
Terrans are Space Marines
Zerg are Tyranids
Protoss are Eldar

I feel like a lot of people don't even know that Warcraft and Starcraft are basically knock offs of the Warhammer franchise. They evolved separately and there's not a ton of similarity left, but Warhammer and 40k have attained legendary status in the nerd community.

40k in particular is the best-selling miniature wargame on the market.

It's huge with certain people but that's not going to translate to movie sales. Even in so called nerd culture it's still pretty niche

Yeah felinids are not going to be appearing

The one game series with like the best cinematic scenes where I know nothing about the games lore and have no interest when I see the gameplay. A show would be a great start to get interested fans like myself who dont like table top games into it.

Warhammer is no joke. I live by a local nerd shop/gaming hall and on Warhammer night there will be droves of dudes walking in, strapped with massive totes in front of them like a stadium vendor which has all their Warhammer shit.

I'd really love to see the numbers for this. Not that I doubt it, I'd be shocked if any others were higher, but I'd love to see how ones like X-Wing, Legion, and Warmachine compared in their prime.

Also, in the original novel Starship Troopers (1959), there's three races -- the Skinnies (Tall grey beings who communicate psychically), The Arachnid/bugs (a communal species, that has biological castes and they won't hesitate to kill thousands of their own like we would use bullets to achieve an objective), and Humans (With giant Mech Tank Suits [ see below])... Does any of that sound familiar?

Interestingly the Starship Troopers cartoon included the Skinnies, though their depiction was pretty different from Protoss (comparisons at the time).

40K is actually more derivative of Frank Herberts Dune books and expanded lore.

So this is extremely far off and theyre nowhere onto starting it....

Ive been hoping hed partner with Brandon Sanderson to give us some Cosmere material, since hes a big Sanderson fan.

Well see how this is. Amazon does not have a great track record for fantasy.

A Warhammer Fantasy would be much more feasible. Although it does depend on how much of a budget Amazon is willing to throw at it. I think Amazon already has Lord of the Rings (which is failing considerably) and Disney had Willow (which failed so bad they pulled it from Disney+) and Netflix has The Witcher and Blood Origin (which are failing considerably) and HBO has House of the Dragon (which is doing considerably well) so the market is a little crowded in the fantasy department right now and going Sci Fi just may be what people need right now.

Plus with 40K you have a lot more time periods to work with. I would personally love to see them go 30K and do a Horus Heresy series to set up for the 40K time period.
But the 40K lore progression has picked up big time over the last few years and we're currently in a pretty exciting point in the story with the fall of the Cadian Gate, the Cicatrix Maledictum vomiting Chaos hordes into real space and the Tyranids stirring up again and have even finally pushed the Orks out of the Octarius system. Also that we're starting to see multiple Primarchs return is huge. Guilliman has awakened after 10,000 years to find the Imperium has become a militant theocracy and were it not for the threat of Chaos and Tyranids is even suspected of throwing a coup over the High Lords of Terra to take the Imperium. Lion El'Johnson is back, Corvus Corax has been sighted, Fulgrim, Angron and Mortarion have started to pay attention to the Imperium again, Leman Russ and Jagatai Khan are still unaccounted for, Vulkan has been reassembling himself at an atomic level for thousands of years and could return and with the sudden influx of warp energy from the Cicatrix Maledictum which has had the side effect of actually bolstering the Emperor's warp presence and made him much more stronger. So much so that a finger of his corpse was seen moving on the Golden Throne.

I know a lot of fans are hoping for Cavill to take up an Inquisitor Eisenhorn series, but I would kill for a Gaunt's Ghost series set during the Sabbat Crusade. Would be more feasible too since it's mostly Human vs Human and Astartes only make occasional appearances. When I read the books I pretty much cast every single character, although a lot of the actors would probably be to old by now. I thought Hugh Laurie would make a great Ibram Gaunt.

My fear is they would focus too much on Astartes when they should be saved and used sparingly. Most humans will never see a live Astartes in their lifetime so when they do show up it should be a big moment.

idk much about warhammer but cavill is great and the lore seems really cool.
