Lost Internet last night so I tuned my computer off and went to sleep. Woke up and turned it on and it said something like /c recovery or something that took about 30 second. Now its froze twice.

Running CCleaner now

If its freezing that to me screams a few possible scenarios.

1 - Go into Task Manager to see what processes are running in the background. You might have something running that is taking up more resources than it should.

2 - Check your tower/laptop to make sure the fans are running properly to allow ample airflow. If a computer is freezing sometimes its because it isn't getting enough cooling.

3 - Dust your machine if you haven't already done it. A can of compressed air.

4 - If all of that fails, run a Virus/Malware scan to see if you downloaded something you shouldn't have. Also if you have an image refresh, back up your important documents/programs and reset your windows to an earlier date to see if that fixes it.

..... I have a diploma in computer repair... you'd think I'd be able to find work...

The thing taking up the most is actually Task Manager right now. 25.9 MB

I'm sure this is what the issue is. I'm too afraid to open up my computer and clean the dust out. If I break something I"ll have to get a whole new computer because I would never be able to figure out how to put a part into it. And I would be too nervous to take it to a PC repair place due to people looking though my stuff

All your doing is opening up the case, removing the screws on the door to check to see if the fans are spinning and if they are spinning the right direction. Trust me when I say its a cakewalk for that kind of thing. What you need to remember is that back and top fans vent heat out, bottom and front fans pull air in. If one of them is doing the opposite of what its supposed to do, all you need to do is remove the fan and literally flip it around to reverse the direction.

As for your hard drive issue with your personal files, keep them either on the cloud or on a removable storage drive. I typically have 2 hard drives in my computer. My first is my boot drive, where its only purpose is to store the operating system and boot Windows. The second is my storage drive where I keep everything. If for some reason I have to bring it to a repair shop, I can just unplug the storage drive so they can't access my personal files, but mostly everything is on the internet so I don't usually need that.
