Got a great hand held emulator that came with a bunch of NES, SNES, SMS, Gen, GB/C/A, arcade, ect on it.

Had my nephew playing a couple games, and hes almost getting it. The Little Mermaid (not that one), Pokmon puzzle league (match colors), and one of the Lion King ones

Any suggestions? Looking for mostly something with unlimited lives so he can try and try

The first game I played was Mortal Kombat so....

In all seriousness, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the big-name classics. I remember playing the shit out of games I was terrible at. I didn't care that I was losing, it was just fun to play.

Can be a bit much, no?

Absorbing mobs and jumping is fine, but you have to press down gain the power. Then you have the hover jump. Mario you have to hold the button to run

well see

I think Kirby games at least would probably be alright, just gotta make sure you explain the controls to them.

What about like mario maker on the easy courses?

I think most are like auto levels, and it can help build better skills to move up into harder difficulties.

The Dragon Ball Advance game is pretty simple. Didn't know it was on here since I searched, "Dragonball,' and not, "Dragon Ball."

I was playing genesis/snes when I was that age, so I can recommend some games I liked from that era. Maybe a few gameboy games

Sega Genesis
  • Wacky Worlds - I loved this game as a kid. You use stickers and music to create Sega themed dioramas
  • Richard Scarry's Busytown - Short game, but it's easy and semi-educational
  • Ecco Jr - It's Ecco the Dolphin, but simplified for younger kids. Can't die and the levels are more straightforward
  • World of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck - Mickey and Donald do have health bars, but the game isn't too complicated
  • Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine - This was the game that introduced me to Puyo Puyo. It's a color matching game, so he might like this. But the opponents get hard the further you progress.
Super Nintendo
  • Super Bomberman - The gameplay is pretty simple. Don't know if your nephew would have trouble with staying out of range of the bombs though
  • Kirby Superstar - 8 Kirby games in one and a lot of fun. I agree with you though, it might be a bit much at 4yo. Save for Later?
Gameboy
  • Alleyway - A breakout clone. Basically you have to use a paddle to hit a ball against bricks. The only controls are moving your paddle from left to right.
  • Pac-Man - Very easy game to pickup and play. He'll lose, but it should still be fun (hopefully)

Considering I played the shit out of this bad boy as a preschooler, I reckon you could throw anything at them and watch it stick.

When I was 4 I was playing hard as hell NES games, but I don't remember how good I was. Damn, I wish I could get him on a power pad. Ah, how are the DDR games at home? He might kind of enjoy that

I got a Genesis when I was three and Sonic was very simple to understand. Go right and press any button to jump on enemies.
My dad did teach me to play his Atari 5200 when I was two though so maybe I was not an average kid.
